Remote Vertical Farming Jobs in California (NOW HIRING)

Remote Vertical Farming information

What is remote vertical farming?

Remote vertical farming jobs are positions that allow individuals to manage, monitor, or support vertical farming operations from a remote location, often using digital tools and automation technology. These roles may include data analysis, crop monitoring, software development, customer support, and farm management. Employees in these positions utilize IoT sensors, cloud-based platforms, and communication tools to oversee plant growth, optimize yields, and troubleshoot issues. Remote work in this field is increasingly common as vertical farms leverage technology to streamline operations and reduce the need for on-site staff.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote vertical farming specialist?

To thrive as a Remote Vertical Farming Specialist, you need expertise in plant science, hydroponics or aeroponics, and a background in agriculture or environmental science. Experience with automated farm management systems, IoT devices, data analytics platforms, and sometimes certifications in controlled environment agriculture are typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective remote communication help ensure optimal crop health and collaboration with distributed teams. These skills are crucial for maximizing yields, maintaining plant quality, and efficiently managing technologically advanced farming operations from a distance.

What are some unique challenges faced by professionals working in remote vertical farming roles, and how can they be addressed?

Remote vertical farming professionals often face challenges related to managing crop health and system maintenance from a distance, requiring strong technology skills and proactive communication. Monitoring environmental controls and responding to system alerts remotely can be demanding, so familiarity with automation software and rapid troubleshooting is essential. Successful remote team members maintain close collaboration with on-site staff and leverage digital tools for real-time data sharing, ensuring efficient operations and swift problem-solving. Building a routine for regular virtual check-ins and ongoing skills development can also help overcome these challenges.

Job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology.

Come be a part of what's next. As we grow globally, we have increasing opportunities to communicate with and delight our members and prospective members in new ways. One of the primary levers for growth is developing new plans, with differentiated features and price points, so consumers can choose what is right for them.

This position is part of the broader Commerce Product team. This role is based in our Los Gatos office (preferred) in a hybrid model, but we are open to remote candidates who are on the West Coast (PST timezone).

Travel to Los Gatos will be required if remote-based. As a Product Manager, you will be expected to design, strategize, execute, and prioritize projects. You should be comfortable at the hub of a fast-paced environment where you interface daily with cross-functional experts.

You can build consensus and alignment but are not afraid to push ahead when there remain some critics and lead in the face of ambiguity. What will you do: Product Execution: Lead the execution and optimization of content aggregation roadmaps. Take product concepts from ideation through validation, shipping, measurement, and iteration.

Scale the Platform: Build and scale product experiences and platform capabilities to support the onboarding of content partners globally.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional leaders in articulating a compelling product vision, and then breaking the vision into well-scoped projects and driving execution. Work as part of an autonomous agile team along with designers, engineers, consumer insights, and data science, ML & analytics colleagues to deliver outstanding products to our customers. Advocate and Align: Ensure that the broader organization is clear about our product strategy and roadmap, and effectively farm for dissent.

Deeply understand and socialize the evolving needs of our customers, with your consumer insights and design partners. Culture: Foster an inclusive environment, where all viewpoints are welcomed and encouraged. Embodies the Netflix real values while also bringing a new perspective to improve our culture.

Who are we looking for Passion for Design, Product Excellence, Growth, Business Model Innovation, and/or Behavioral Economics. Past experience in entertainment industry or related products/solutions is a huge plus. 7+ years of product management experience with a proven record of prioritizing and successfully launching impactful products or platforms.

Worked in a direct-to-consumer business, preferably with a global scope, where the consumer is paying for the service. Demonstrated leadership working effectively with designers, data scientists, engineers, researchers, and colleagues across content, communications, and marketing - ability to inspire, motivate and lead a cross-functional team Very high attention to detail, with an ability to connect the smallest experience elements to the big picture goals at the company and team level. Excellent verbal and written communication skills - An ability to synthesize the complex into the simple and persuasive, and tell compelling stories with data.

Comfortable using data to inform priorities and evaluate impact of initiatives Has strong instincts for outstanding customer experience. Experience working in an organizational structure with both vertical and horizontal teams where ownership of a capability cuts across multiple teams. Embodies the Netflix real values while also bringing a new perspective to improve our culture.

We strongly believe that diversity of experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds will lead to a better environment for our employees and better products for our customers. Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options.

To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range.
