Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking experienced Civil Engineering Technologist or Technician focusing on Mission Critical Data Center projects within our Community Development Group. Within this team, you will have the opportunity to work on Data Center projects of various sizes across the country. The Mission Critical space requires a very proactive, responsive, and efficient design team with projects serving Fortune 10 companies who are making headlines with transformational projects. For the right candidate, there is the potential for this to be a remote work position.
The engineers on this team are a core design group dedicated to serving Data Center clients and similar major commercial programs. The projects they work on require a variety and diverse set of skills to assist our clients with site due diligence, design, entitlement approvals, permitting, and construction. Within this team you will be exposed to different design requirements across multiple geographic regions as well as different Mission Critical and commercial projects of various sizes and operational needs.
This position involves working collaboratively within the Mission Critical core design team, project partners, and various different services in the development of private civil site designs; construction plans and specifications; preparing reports, studies, and construction contract documents; computing quantities and preparing opinions of cost; performing field observations and assisting in the coordination and management of construction activities.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Support engineering projects working directly with engineers, project managers, and design team members
  • Deliver high quality drafting of engineering drawings and exhibits
  • Assist with maintaining and further developing drafting standards, mentoring staff, and implement industry leaching technology with respect to CADD and design software
  • Draft plans for civil and related discipline design projects utilizing AutoDesk Civil 3D.
  • Perform site grading analysis and calculations utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D; prepare street and utility plan and profiles, project details, and quantity take offs.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to complete project timelines and requirements
  • Assist civil engineers with site design, utility design, grading, and overall plan production.
  • Manages deadlines and prioritizes assignments; able to work on multiple projects as schedules dictate
  • Assists with the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Utilizes technologies in development of three-dimensional models of civil systems.
  • Coordinates with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proven knowledge and skills of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Be proactive, solution-oriented, and work well within a cooperative team environment.
  • Ability to be flexible and react accordingly to dynamic project needs on tight timelines and fast paced schedules.
  • Ability to perform duties with virtual coordination as the team is officed across various geographic regions.
  • Understanding of civil engineering concepts (i.e. site layout, grading, utility design, etc.) and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Ability and desire to train in civil site design needs and concepts and grow your skillset to assist the team in project delivery.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to interact with project teams.
  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the project team, obtaining and sharing necessary information.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, and other similar material
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
  • Attention to detail to recognize discrepancies
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record

Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 3+ years of drafting experience on civil engineering and/or related projects
  • Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field is preferred, but not required if the candidate can demonstrate sufficient experience and skillset

Position will primarily be in an office setting. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for the majority of the day.

Pay Range:
• Locations in MN, OH, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas-$57,200.00 - $80,100.00 Annually
• Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas-$62,900.00 - $88,100.00 Annually
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
