How does a remote utilities analyst typically collaborate with on-site teams and stakeholders?

A Remote Utilities Analyst regularly communicates with on-site teams, engineers, and management through virtual meetings, emails, and shared digital platforms to analyze utility data and address operational concerns. Despite working remotely, they are expected to be proactive in seeking updates, clarifying data discrepancies, and providing actionable recommendations. Effective collaboration often involves using specialized software to access real-time utility system data, presenting findings, and aligning on efficiency initiatives. Building strong remote relationships and maintaining clear, timely communication are key to successfully supporting on-site operations and achieving project goals.

Job description

Help Deliver Critical Infrastructure Projects That Power Communities

At ENTRUST, we're looking for a Senior Project Cost & Financial Analyst to support major utility, energy, and infrastructure programs across North America. In this highly visible, client-facing role, you'll help drive financial performance, cost management, forecasting, reporting, and compliance for large capital projects funded through utility investments, federal programs, loans, and grants.

If you enjoy turning complex financial data into actionable insights, partnering with project leaders, and ensuring projects remain financially healthy and compliant, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As a trusted advisor to project teams, executives, lenders, and stakeholders, you will:

  • Lead project cost management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for major infrastructure programs.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, cash flow forecasts, funding plans, and cost performance metrics.
  • Analyze project financial performance, identify risks and variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare executive dashboards, KPI reporting, and financial presentations for leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Support funded programs involving USDA/RUS loans, DOE financing, grants, and other federal funding sources.
  • Ensure compliance with funding requirements, audit standards, and applicable regulations, including 2 CFR Part 200 where applicable.
  • Perform financial analysis of utilities, cooperatives, and infrastructure organizations, including financial performance, funding strategies, and investment scenarios.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Contracts, and Project Management teams to support project execution and financial governance.
  • Support project accounting activities such as accruals, capital tracking, reconciliations, and audit preparation.
  • Develop and maintain Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics and cost performance reporting.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in project cost controls, finance, accounting, financial analysis, or related disciplines.
  • Experience supporting large capital, utility, energy, infrastructure, or construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, accruals, ETC/EAC forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Experience preparing executive-level financial reports and dashboards.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience working with ERP, accounting, or project cost management systems.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience supporting federally funded infrastructure programs, including grants, loans, or compliance reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with USDA/RUS loan programs, DOE financing, or other federal funding initiatives.
  • Knowledge of 2 CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance).
  • Utility, energy, broadband, water, transmission, generation, or infrastructure industry experience.
  • Experience supporting major capital construction programs.
  • Familiarity with Power BI and ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Deltek, or PowerPlan.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, PMP, EVP, or related credentials.

Benefits & Salary:

    • This position pays between $120,000 and $150,000 annually and is an exempt position.
    • Benefits offered include company sponsored medical, dental, vision, and retirement plan with company match. Also offered are tuition reimbursement, voluntary life, disability, critical illness, accident and hospitalization plans. HSA or FSA medical accounts and FSA dependent care and transportation/parking accounts are also available. These benefits are subject to employee contribution amounts generally set annually.
    • Full time employees are eligible to earn PTO hours.
    • May be eligible for discretionary bonus as determined by the company.

This role is designated as remote, giving you the flexibility to primarily work from home while staying actively connected to your team and projects. We value collaboration and responsiveness, so we ask our remote team members to be available when in-office presence is needed—such as for client meetings, team events, or training sessions. Our approach blends freedom with shared accountability, making ENTRUST an exciting and supportive environment for professionals who thrive in remote work settings with clear, respectful expectations.
