Familiarity with tools such as staple guns, sewing machines, and fabric-cutting software is important, as well as experience with remote communication platforms for client interaction. Search/Comparison IntentUnderstanding remote work options, design rolesHands-on repair, installation, or restoration roles

Remote Upholstery involves designing, consulting, or managing upholstery projects remotely, often focusing on client communication and material selection. Upholstery Technicians perform hands-on work, repairing or installing upholstery on-site. While both roles require fabric and sewing skills, remote upholstery emphasizes remote work and design, whereas upholstery technicians focus on physical craftsmanship.

What is remote upholstery?

Remote upholstery refers to upholstery services—such as furniture repair, re-covering, or restoration—that can be coordinated and managed remotely. Customers typically communicate with upholstery professionals online or over the phone, sharing photos and details about their furniture. The upholsterer may provide consultations, quotes, and design suggestions virtually, and arrange for pickup and delivery of the furniture if needed. This service offers convenience and flexibility, especially for clients who cannot visit a physical workshop. Remote upholstery often leverages digital tools to streamline the entire process from consultation to completion.

What are the typical challenges faced by remote upholstery professionals, and how can they be managed?

Remote upholstery professionals often encounter challenges such as limited access to specialized tools or materials, managing client expectations from a distance, and coordinating the logistics of shipping or delivering finished pieces. To succeed, it's important to establish clear communication with clients about timelines, requirements, and care instructions. Additionally, investing in portable tools and building relationships with reliable shipping partners can help streamline operations and ensure high-quality results.

Our mission is simple: to make really high quality essentials for really low prices, produced fairly and sustainably. We believe everyone deserves exceptional craftsmanship and timeless design without the traditional markups. Quince is a direct-to-consumer (DTC) model that cuts out middlemen and leverages just-in-time manufacturing to minimize waste and maximize value.
Quince is a tech company disrupting the retail industry by putting AI, analytics and automation at the center of everything we do. Our unwavering commitment to excellence and company values guide our teams and actions:
  • Customer First: We prioritize customer satisfaction in every decision.
  • High Quality: True quality means premium materials and rigorous production standards you can feel good about.
  • Essential Design: We focus on timeless, functional essentials instead of chasing trends.

Quince partners with world-class manufacturers across the globe and serves millions of customers. With strong investor backing and a focus on sustainable growth, we are a company that is rapidly scaling while maintaining a commitment to quality, simplicity, and radical price transparency.
OUR TEAM AND SUCCESS
At Quince, you will be part of a high-performing team that is redefining what quality, value, and sustainability mean in modern retail. We are a destination for builders, innovators, and operators to come together and challenge the status quo. Our collective ambition is bold. We are creating an entirely new category and customer experience - one that democratizes luxury and provides high quality products at radically low prices. That mission demands a world-class team committed to excellence.
If you are motivated by impact, growth, and purpose, you will find a strong sense of belonging at Quince.
THE ROLE
Senior Sourcing Manager
We are looking for a Senior Sourcing Manager to join our growing Home team. This role will report to the VP of Home Sourcing.
In this role, you will lead vendor relationships and sourcing strategy for Quince's North America-based Home Hard Lines categories, with a particular focus on Made-to-Order (MTO) upholstery products. You will play a critical role in building and scaling our North American-based manufacturing network, including close partnership with fabric mills.
Success in this position means driving best-in-class vendor onboarding and development, ensuring quality and compliance, negotiating costs to deliver margin improvement, and enabling operational excellence across the region. You will partner closely with Home Merchandising, Planning, Design, and Operations to bring high-quality products to market quickly and reliably, in support of Quince's mission to make luxury-quality home goods accessible.
Responsibilities
  • Own sourcing strategy and vendor relationships for North America-based manufacturers of Home Hard Line products (both MTO and stocked), including fabric mills
  • Lead cost negotiations, contracts, and margin improvement initiatives with Americas-based suppliers
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new factory partners with high quality standards, scalable capacity, and reliable lead times
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Merchandising, Planning, and Operations to launch new products efficiently and reliably
  • Visit key vendor partners regularly to troubleshoot issues, audit quality and delivery performance, and build long-term strategic relationships
  • Drive factory-side product development cycles in close partnership with Design and Merchandising
  • Ensure successful order execution with vendors by reviewing production timelines, ensuring SLA adherence, accelerating production where needed, and optimizing quick-ship performance
  • Ensure compliance with Quince's ethical sourcing, social responsibility, and sustainability standards

Qualifications
Required:
  • 7+ years of sourcing experience with a strong track record in furniture and/or Home Hard Lines manufacturing and vendor management
  • Deep understanding of furniture production processes, including Made-to-Order upholstery and casegoods
  • Experience working within the premium or luxury furniture segment
  • Proven strength in cost negotiation, commercial decision-making, and margin optimization
  • Highly organized, autonomous, and adaptable; comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Based in the United States (remote), with the ability to travel to vendor partners approximately 1-2 times per month

Preferred:
  • Experience working with higher-end furniture brands
  • Prior experience as an e-commerce Category Manager

*Candidates based in the SF Bay Area will be required to work in a hybrid capacity, 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday). All candidates outside of that region will be able to work in a fully remote capacity. No relocation is required.
All posted ranges are reflective of base salary and may vary depending upon experience level and location. Bonus and equity may also be provided for eligible roles.
Pay Range
$150,000-$160,000 USD
