Job Summary: The Estimating Manager will play a critical role in driving new business growth by owning the estimating process and assisting Estimating, Commercial, Operations and Engineering to establish accurate cost models. This role will use their knowledge of existing manufacturing capabilities, as well as their ability to investigate and evaluate new equipment, approaches, and critical partners to create proposals which provide a competitive advantage over competitors. This position requires a strong background in estimating, metals manufacturing, program management, and business development. Additionally, this role involves assisting in technical conversations with targeted customers and opportunities to build confidence in Vantedgeโs ability to execute the quoted process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop optimal and accurate costing, pricing, process, and financial analysis for new quotes opportunities
ยท This critical position will partner with and facilitate effective communication between site-estimating resources, Engineering, Operations, Automation, Commercial, and customers to perform the following:
1) Own large-scale multi-site quote opportunities.
2) Review and develop quotes for accuracy and strategic fit.
3) Identify, investigate, and propose solutions to product and process challenges ensuring a competitive and profitable process is quoted.
4) Evaluate new opportunities for site-fit, capability, risk, and profitability.
5) Provide insights and recommendations for areas of concern, DFM suggestions, appropriate margins, quote / no-quote decisions, and strategic fit.
6) Assist Commercial with opportunity fit analysis and identification of project / product pain points to ensure our quote approach is effective.
7) Partner with Commercial to provide technical support when delivering customer proposals to build confidence in the manufacturing process quoted.
8) Investigates new technologies and capabilities, with a focus on improving competitiveness in cost structure to increase value to customers and our business.
2. Manage process, active quotes, and resources assigned to drive completion by customer request date
ยท This is a leadership role which will work with teams to assess and continually improve our current quote process to execute timely and accurate quotes.
1) Set quote prioritization in alignment with Commercial and Operations.
2) Determine appropriate quote detail and accuracy required.
3) Create quote summaries, along with needed financial investment analysis, to enable efficient approvals.
4) Develop site-based estimating resources.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field, or demonstrates equivalent-on-the job/career experiences
- Proven experience in estimating and process development
- Strong technical background in the medical device manufacturing industry
- Experience in machining, stamping, CNC programming, sheet metal fabrication, assembly, and supporting processes strongly preferred (not all required)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Understanding of financials used for costing purposes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Business Administration
- New product introduction experience
- Experience in customer-facing interactions, particularly providing technical expertise
Working Conditions:
