This role offers a remote working environment, allowing flexibility while ensuring that our counselors can focus on providing essential mental health services. As part of a community health clinic, you will interact regularly with law enforcement and various health organizations, contributing to a collaborative effort to improve mental health safety and care in our community.

• Engage with law enforcement during critical mental health response situations, offering on-site counseling and support.
• Provide training to police personnel on effective techniques for de-escalating mental health crises to minimize incidents requiring force.
• Conduct field psychiatric evaluations, assisting police officers in assessing the need for involuntary detainment under the Welfare and Institutions Code.
• Deliver immediate, short-term crisis counseling for individuals in distress, ensuring they receive appropriate care and support.
• Document patient interactions meticulously, safeguarding confidential information in compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Facilitate communication between law enforcement, mental health crisis units, and medical staff to ensure cohesive patient care.

The ideal candidate will support a broad spectrum of patients, including arrestees facing mental health challenges and community members experiencing crises. • A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field is required.
• Must hold a valid Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) license in the state of California.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, along with strong written and verbal communication capabilities.
• Professional demeanor and a positive attitude with an emphasis on maintaining composure in crisis situations.

• Previous clinical experience in psychiatric settings is strongly preferred; candidates with backgrounds in emergency mental health or crisis intervention are especially desirable.
• Familiarity with community health resources and collaboration with law enforcement agencies is advantageous.
• Experience in a similar role that includes direct patient interactions and crisis assessments will be beneficial.
