Job Description:
Summary:
The Virtual Safety Companion shall provide support services to the nursing unit through continuous video surveillance and verbal intervention with assigned patients being monitored for at risk behavior and maintenance of patient safety. The Virtual Safety Companion will monitor patients identified as at risk for fall from a remote location. The Virtual Safety Companion will promote a safe patient care environment communicating with floor staff as needed throughout the assigned shift, following patient specific ambulation and care expectations including information regarding the patient's identified care needs, diagnosis, visual, auditory, or language barriers, as well as any special consideration (NPO, bed alarms, etc.). The Virtual Safety Companion communicates alerts of risk to patient safety to the nursing team on the patient unit as indicated. The Virtual Safety Companion implement role specific guidelines for the role of the Virtual Safety Companion.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Individuals who are at least 18 years of age and who have graduated or are actively enrolled in a high school/secondary education program in good standing with the academic institution and on track for meeting the high school/secondary graduation requirements are eligible for employment in this role.
Two (2) years of experience in healthcare is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
Certification as a nursing or medical assistant preferred.
