Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate patientsโ€™ trauma histories and determine appropriate therapies.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that focus on trauma recovery, incorporating resilience-building strategies tailored to each patient.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices in therapy sessions, including modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions aimed at helping patients process their trauma, develop coping mechanisms, and promote overall healing.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists and other health professionals to ensure the delivery of integrated care for all patients.
  • Provide timely crisis intervention for clients experiencing trauma-related emergencies, ensuring a safe and effective response.
  • Educate clients and their families on trauma responses, coping strategies, and available resources to empower them on their healing journey.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards related to mental health practice.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development activities, focusing on trauma-informed care methodologies and evidence-based treatments.
  • Stay informed of the latest research and practices in trauma therapy to ensure high-quality care for our clients.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be working with individuals who have been affected by trauma, particularly those dealing with PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Understanding the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our clients is essential, as it will inform your approach and enhance the therapeutic relationship. We create an environment rooted in empathy, allowing patients to feel safe and supported during their healing journeys.

Qualifications
  • Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of New Jersey.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practices and the ability to apply evidence-based interventions effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating a compassionate and supportive demeanor.
  • Proficient in utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems and other related technology.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, showing both flexibility and determination in a dynamic setting.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience in a clinical setting focusing on trauma-informed care is strongly preferred, although less experienced applicants may be considered based on their qualifications.
  • Experience in utilizing various trauma-focused therapeutic modalities and interventions.
  • Familiarity with community mental health resources in Jersey City and surrounding areas.
Compensation and Benefits
