Positive Progress Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our team in a full-time remote capacity, based in Hempstead, New York. Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary contact for families, proactively communicating to foster trust and understanding regarding therapy processes.
  • Conduct individual, family, and group therapy sessions in alignment with our clinical methodologies, including the Attachment-Based Family Therapy model.
  • Facilitate Family Orientations and Welcome Presentations to engage and inform families about the treatment journey their young ones will embark upon.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, such as assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries, in a timely manner, maintaining adherence to established standards and confidentiality protocols.
  • Utilize tools like Microsoft Word, Outlook, and our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems to ensure accurate data management and documentation.
  • Participate in weekly treatment team meetings, clinical supervision, and ongoing training sessions to enhance your professional skills and stay aligned with the latest evidence-based practices.
  • Independently manage your schedule to effectively meet the therapeutic goals of your clients and align with broader organizational objectives.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our primary focus is on adolescents and young adults facing developmental challenges, mental health crises, substance abuse issues, and trauma-related struggles. You will work with a diverse client population, providing culturally competent care that acknowledges individual backgrounds and experiences.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field is required. Enrollment in a Doctorate program from an accredited institution is also acceptable.
  • Candidates must hold a board registration (e.g. APCC, LAPC, ASW, AMFT) or be a Psychological Associate in the state of New York.
  • Experience in providing therapy to adolescents and young adults, focusing on individual, group, or family modalities is essential.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience dealing with mental health challenges, substance abuse, eating disorders, or trauma-informed treatment approaches is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with modern therapeutic techniques and a strong basis in evidence-based practices will be advantageous.
