Job description

Introduction
The Department of Corrections is focused on public safety through the custody and supervision of those in our care. The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a Limited Term (LTE) Plumber position. This position is based out of Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility in Milwaukee, WI
Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility (MSDF) Buildings/Grounds Superintendent, this position performs duties as a skilled plumber, utilizing the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of the Plumbing Trades. This position will work in coordination with, and under the guidance of the full-time MSDF Master Plumber. This position will inspect, repair, and maintain all plumbing and related mechanical operations, as well as, heating, ventilating, air conditioning & refrigeration equipment, systems, and the distribution systems in accordance with the provisions of the plumbing codes, pertinent plans, and specifications or job orders.
Salary Information
This position is in pay schedule and range 04-00 with a starting pay of $53.36/hour - $65.20/hour . Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire.
Job Details
This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site. The work hours will vary and specifics can be discussed at time of interview.
This position is FLSA Non-Exempt.
Limited Term Employees must be residents of the State of Wisconsin.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
Qualifications
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must possess current unrestricted Wisconsin licensure as a Master Plumber OR Journeyman and maintain licensure during employment.
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license. Employees will be required to maintain a valid driver's license during employment.
This position has physical requirements related to performing the job duties that involve being able to move and lift freely to perform necessary inspections and tasks, including climbing ladders and stairs.
