Job description

About the Role

International Wheel & Tire (IWT) is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Account Manager – Tire Machinery & Automation Sales to lead sales and customer development efforts throughout North America.

This is a highly specialized technical sales position focused on tire manufacturing machinery, tire uniformity grading systems, tire testing equipment, and related automation solutions. The ideal candidate has established experience selling capital equipment or production machinery directly to tire manufacturers and understands the technical and commercial requirements involved in complex equipment sales.

Working as part of IWT's global organization, you will identify and develop new opportunities, strengthen existing customer relationships, define customer requirements, and coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and global leadership to develop solutions and close business.

This is a remote position with approximately 20%-30% travel, primarily throughout North America with occasional international travel.

What You Will Do

Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and execute sales strategies supporting IWT's North American growth objectives.
  • Identify, qualify, develop, and close capital equipment opportunities with new and existing tire manufacturing customers.
  • Sell tire uniformity grading, tire testing, wheel and tire processing machinery, and related automation solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, operations, and executive-level customer contacts.
  • Develop new accounts while expanding opportunities within IWT's existing customer base.
  • Conduct customer visits, technical presentations, equipment discussions, and sales meetings.
  • Represent IWT at industry trade shows, conferences, and customer events.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and lead opportunities through contract award.

Customer & Technical Solutions

  • Work directly with customers to understand their manufacturing processes, production requirements, technical specifications, challenges, and project objectives.
  • Translate customer requirements into clearly defined machinery and automation solutions.
  • Review and understand customer specifications, equipment requirements, and AutoCAD drawings.
  • Identify customer pain points and work with IWT's technical teams to develop practical solutions.
  • Serve as the primary commercial liaison between the customer and IWT throughout the sales process.
  • Maintain strong customer communication from initial opportunity development through proposal, negotiation, equipment installation, and follow-up.

Proposal Development & Global Collaboration

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, and other global team members to develop accurate technical and commercial proposals.
  • Ensure customer requirements and expectations are clearly communicated internally.
  • Collaborate with IWT teams in North America, Germany, India, and other global locations to support customer opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage IWT's global engineering, manufacturing, and technical capabilities.
  • Share customer and market intelligence with leadership to support product development and long-term business strategy.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of production machinery or capital equipment sales experience within the tire manufacturing industry.
  • Demonstrated experience selling machinery, automation, testing equipment, or related technical solutions to tire manufacturers.
  • Strong understanding of tire manufacturing environments and production equipment.
  • Ability to understand AutoCAD drawings, customer specifications, technical requirements, and industrial machinery concepts.
  • Proven ability to develop customer relationships and manage complex, long-cycle capital equipment sales.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing opportunities independently in a remote environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, operations, manufacturing, and sales teams across multiple countries and time zones

  • 10+ years of production machinery or capital equipment sales experience within the tire manufacturing industry.
  • Current experience selling tire uniformity, tire grading, tire testing, or related tire manufacturing machinery.

  • Experience managing global sales opportunities involving multiple regions or business units.

  • Strong knowledge of tire manufacturing processes, equipment, and industry trends.
