Remote Test information

What are some common challenges faced when working as a remote software tester, and how can they be effectively managed?

Remote software testers often face challenges such as communication barriers, coordinating across different time zones, and ensuring consistent access to test environments. To manage these, it's important to use collaborative tools for tracking bugs and test progress, maintain clear and frequent communication with development teams, and proactively schedule meetings to address any blockers. Establishing a reliable workflow and documenting processes also help ensure testing remains thorough and efficient, even when working from different locations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Tester, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Tester, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of software testing methodologies, often supported by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with test management tools (like Jira or TestRail), automation frameworks (such as Selenium), and relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB) are typically required. Excellent communication, self-motivation, and time management are vital soft skills for collaborating effectively and meeting deadlines in a remote environment. These skills enable thorough testing, efficient problem-solving, and seamless teamwork, ensuring software quality and project success.

What are remote test jobs?

Remote testers collaborate with development teams online and use communication platforms to report issues and track progress, making strong organizational and communication skills important. This setup offers flexibility and access to job opportunities regardless of geographical location.

Trissential is hiring a Test Lead to join our client's team and play a critical role in a major implementation program. This is an opportunity to lead testing strategy, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and ensure successful delivery across multiple business units and geographies. If you're passionate about quality assurance, leadership, and delivering exceptional outcomes, we'd love to connect with you.

What's in It for You?

  • Enjoy flexibility through a hybrid work arrangement, with consideration for fully remote candidates

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop, own, and execute the overall testing strategy, approach, and plans for project implementation initiatives

  • Mentor, guide, and coordinate testing teams across multiple business units, regions, and external partners
  • Collaborate with business analysts, solution architects, developers, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and testing needs
  • Translate business and technical requirements into comprehensive test scenarios, scripts, and validation plans
  • Oversee the creation, review, and execution of test cases, test scripts, and test data to validate system functionality and integrations
  • Manage defect tracking, triage processes, root cause analysis, and issue resolution activities
  • Coordinate testing schedules and deliverables with program leadership, release management, and change readiness teams
  • Ensure test environments, tools, and data are available and prepared for all phases of testing
  • Define, track, and communicate quality metrics, KPIs, testing progress, risks, and outcomes to key stakeholders
  • Support deployment activities and provide quality oversight through go-live and stabilization phases

Skills & Experience You Should Possess

  • 8+ years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or test management roles
  • 4+ years of experience leading testing teams as a Test Lead, Test Manager, or comparable leadership position
  • Proven experience supporting large-scale ERP implementations or similarly complex enterprise platforms
  • Strong expertise in functional, integration, regression, UAT, and end-to-end testing methodologies
  • Experience with data migration testing, data validation, and system integration testing
  • Proficiency with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, ALM, or comparable platforms
  • Demonstrated success leading distributed or geographically dispersed testing teams
  • Strong stakeholder communication, facilitation, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to thrive in complex, fast-paced environments with multiple concurrent priorities
  • Experience coordinating internal teams, vendors, contractors, and third-party partners

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation initiatives in highly regulated industries
  • Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies
  • Hands-on exposure to enterprise-wide data migration programs
  • Experience implementing quality assurance best practices across large organizations
  • Background working with multiple deployment waves and release management processes

Education & Certifications You Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • ISTQB Certification or similar software testing certification preferred
  • Additional quality assurance, testing, Agile, or project management certifications are a plus
