Remote Telecom Expense Management information

What is remote telecom expense management?

Remote telecom expense management (TEM) refers to the process of managing and optimizing an organization's telecommunications costs, assets, and services from a remote location. This involves tracking usage, auditing invoices, identifying billing errors, and negotiating contracts without the need for on-site presence. Remote TEM specialists use software and cloud-based tools to analyze data, ensure compliance, and recommend cost-saving measures for phone, internet, and mobile services. The goal is to reduce unnecessary expenses and streamline telecom operations for businesses.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote telecom expense management professional?

To thrive as a Remote Telecom Expense Management professional, you need a solid understanding of telecommunications billing, financial analysis, and contract management, typically supported by experience in telecom or finance. Familiarity with telecom expense management (TEM) platforms, Excel, and data analysis tools is crucial, and certifications like CTEM can be advantageous. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective communication are important soft skills for ensuring accurate expense tracking and vendor negotiations. These skills ensure cost optimization, compliance, and efficient management of telecom services for organizations.

What are some common challenges faced in a remote telecom expense management role, and how can they be addressed?

In a remote Telecom Expense Management (TEM) role, professionals often encounter challenges such as managing large volumes of billing data from multiple carriers, ensuring timely dispute resolution, and maintaining clear communication with internal teams and vendors. These challenges can be addressed by leveraging specialized TEM software, establishing standardized processes, and actively collaborating via digital tools to track issues and share updates. Strong organizational skills and proactive communication are key to overcoming these obstacles and ensuring cost savings and compliance for the organization.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer - Alpaca Connect based in Netherlands.

This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on building the tools and services that enable developers to launch and manage applications on a financial technology platform.
You will work across TypeScript, React, Go, APIs, and distributed systems to create secure, intuitive developer experiences.
Your work will directly improve partner onboarding, application management, compliance workflows, marketplace discovery, consent, and permissions.
You will connect these experiences with identity, account, trading, and market data systems while maintaining strong security and reliability.
The role offers substantial ownership, from product design and implementation through production delivery and technical direction.
You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, Compliance, Support, Partnerships, and Platform teams in a globally distributed environment.
It is an excellent fit for an experienced full-stack engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and turning ambiguous requirements into simple, scalable products.

Accountabilities:
  • Build and maintain full-stack experiences using TypeScript and React, supported by backend services written in Go.
  • Develop and improve developer-facing workflows covering application onboarding, testing, compliance review, approval, publishing, and ongoing management.
  • Transform manual support and compliance processes into efficient, transparent, and auditable self-service workflows.
  • Design and implement APIs and integrations connecting identity, account, trading, and market data systems.
  • Build secure workflows for authentication, authorization, consent, and permissions.
  • Own features throughout the complete development lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation, deployment, and production support.
  • Work closely with Product and Design to translate complex business and technical requirements into straightforward user experiences.
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Support, Partnerships, and Platform teams to ensure solutions meet operational, regulatory, and technical needs.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape the team's technical direction.
  • Maintain high standards for security, reliability, performance, code quality, and user experience.
  • Navigate incomplete or ambiguous requirements using sound technical judgment and a strong ownership mindset.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of professional experience building and delivering production-grade full-stack applications.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with TypeScript and React.
  • Professional experience with Go or another modern backend programming language.
  • Strong SQL and relational database skills, with PostgreSQL experience preferred.
  • Proven experience designing and consuming REST APIs and integrating distributed services.
  • Practical knowledge of OAuth, OIDC, or comparable authentication and authorization systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver secure, user-facing features end to end.
  • Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, scalable application architecture, and production systems.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to make sound decisions when requirements are incomplete or ambiguous.
  • Strong ownership mindset, with the ability to independently drive projects from concept through production.
  • Experience with developer platforms, partner portals, or marketplaces is a plus.
  • Experience designing compliance or operational workflows within regulated industries is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and production observability is a plus.
  • Experience with financial markets, brokerage systems, or market data is highly valued.
  • Previous experience in a startup or distributed remote environment is beneficial.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across multiple countries, cultures, and time zones.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary and stock options.
  • Comprehensive health benefits.
  • USD $500 one-time home-office setup allowance for new hires.
  • USD $150 monthly stipend provided through a company expense card.
  • Fully remote work environment.
  • Opportunity to work with a globally distributed team of experienced engineers, traders, and financial technology professionals.
  • Significant ownership over products and technical solutions used by developers and financial institutions.
  • Opportunity to work on complex challenges spanning financial infrastructure, APIs, compliance, identity, trading, and market data.
  • Collaborative, high-trust environment with opportunities to contribute to technical direction and open-source initiatives.
  • Inclusive workplace committed to building and supporting a diverse global workforce.
