Telecom Expense Management Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing and optimizing an organization’s telecommunications costs and services. They analyze telecom bills, manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and implement cost-saving strategies. Their goal is to ensure that the company’s telecom expenses are accurate, justified, and in line with business needs. • Oversee sourcing, ordering, provisioning, optimization, and disconnect activities.
  • Ensure timely coordination of circuits and internet services for office locations and project sites.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of circuits, bandwidth, vendors, contract terms, and hardware (MiFis, Cradlepoints, cellularenabled tablets).
  • Track lifecycle events such as upgrades, suspensions, and demobilizations.
3. Drive Invoice Accuracy & Financial Control
  • Collect and validate telecom invoices across carriers.
  • Confirm charges match contracts, inventory records, usage, and provisioning.
  • Identify billing errors, file disputes, and secure credits.
  • Analyze costsaving opportunities through consolidation and optimization.
  • Maintain complete audit history and monthly financial reporting.
4. Coordinate With Telecom Carriers & Internal Teams
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with major carriers and service providers.
  • Support shortterm and longterm connectivity needs for multiple business units.
  • Negotiate pricing, service levels, and contract structures.
  • Align telecom procurement and management practices with the organization’s financial strategy.
5. Deliver Reporting & Business Intelligence
  • Create dashboards and reporting that provide visibility into telecom spend and service usage.
  • Monitor KPIs such as uptime, SLA performance, invoice accuracy, and dispute recovery.
  • Identify spend trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting for telecom and networkrelated costs.
What You Need to SucceedRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • 7+ years of telecommunications engineering experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in telecom expense management, network procurement, or IT asset management.

    • Telecom billing structures
    • Mobile and data services
  • Experience coordinating with multiple vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with ERP or financial systems.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience integrating TEM platforms with ServiceNow or finance systems.
  • Knowledge of telecom contracts and carrier negotiation.
  • Familiarity with fiber, broadband, LTE, SDWAN, and related technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects independently.
  • Exposure to field operations or construction site connectivity needs.
