This position offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to provide critical mental health support to clients struggling with alcohol-related challenges. With a competitive salary range of USD 80,000 to 100,000 per year, this role not only provides financial benefits but also the rewarding opportunity to change lives.

About the Organization

At Cygnus Behavioral Health Services, we are committed to transforming the relationship individuals have with alcohol. Our online platform connects clients to a wealth of resources, including an anonymous community and therapist-led support groups aimed at fostering recovery and growth. Our mission stems from our ownerโ€™s personal journey, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based, accessible care that prioritizes quality and service. We strive to create an inclusive environment where healthy relationships with alcohol are attainable and celebrated.

Work Environment

This position is entirely remote, utilizing telehealth technology to connect with clients across Utica, New York, and beyond. You will have the freedom to set your own hours, responding to client needs while maintaining a work-life balance. The telehealth setting allows for direct and personalized interactions while reducing the barriers to access that many clients face in traditional therapy settings. Our team embraces innovation and supports a culture of collaboration and continuous professional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial assessments and develop personalized treatment plans tailored to individual client needs.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing to effectively support clients.
  • Engage in clinical discussions with clients regarding their goals, including harm reduction approaches for those interested in moderation versus abstinence.
  • Facilitate weekly therapy sessions through digital platforms, ensuring confidentiality and a secure environment.
  • Document client progress and clinical notes in compliance with regulatory standards, while minimizing administrative burdens through our streamlined systems.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including access to a Clinical Operations Team and Care Coordination Team to enhance patient support.
  • Participate in optional monthly peer group meetings and contribute to the development of โ€œExpert Insightsโ€ with our Content Manager for community outreach.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily serves individuals seeking support to modify their relationship with alcohol, including those exploring moderation and abstinence. You will work with a diverse client base who may come from various backgrounds and experiences, requiring sensitivity and adaptability in your therapeutic approach. By fostering a safe and supportive environment, you will encourage clients to utilize community recovery resources such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Smart Recovery, and Moderation Management in conjunction with their individualized treatment plans.

Qualifications
  • Active licensure as LCSW, LCSW-R, LMFT, or LMHC in the state of New York.
  • Demonstrated training or experience in CBT, DBT, client management, and trauma-informed treatment strategies.
  • Strong clinical engagement skills, empathy, and the ability to establish rapport with clients in a remote format.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in alcohol use disorder treatment or addiction counseling.
  • Familiarity with community resources and recovery support systems.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a remote setting while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Compensation and Benefits

Join us at Cygnus Behavioral Health Services and enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, access to retirement plans, generous paid time off, and continual professional development resources. We believe in investing in our employeesโ€™ futures, providing support for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) annually, with costs covered by the organization. Our supportive work environment fosters growth, making it easier for you to focus on your clients while we manage administrative aspects.

Career Growth Opportunities

Our commitment to professional development means that as a Mental Health Counselor at Cygnus, you will have access to numerous opportunities for advancement. Benefit from ongoing training, mentorship from experienced colleagues, and possibilities to take on leadership roles within clinical operations or community outreach programs as your career progresses.
