We are seeking experienced Remote Part-Time Outpatient Medical Coders to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This is a flexible, remote opportunity for certified coders who can commit to at least 20 hours per week.


Responsibilities:

  • Accurately code VA outpatient medical records and surgical procedures.
  • Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, E/M, and applicable modifiers in accordance with VA and CMS guidelines.
  • Maintain a minimum 95% coding quality score.
  • Comply with all VA privacy, security, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Assist with additional coding specialties, including inpatient, professional fee, surgical, and auditing, as needed.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of outpatient medical coding experience.
  • Minimum of 6 months of recent Veteran Affairs (VA) coding experience as a VA employee or with a government contractor supporting the VA (required).
  • Experience with VIRR/WebVIRR (required).
  • Experience with Surgery, Professional Fee, Inpatient Coding, or Auditing is a plus.


Required Certifications (One of the Following):

  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P
  • CPC, CPC-H, or CIC


Important: To be considered, applicants must have at least 6 months of recent VA coding experience with either the Department of Veterans Affairs employee or with a government contractor supporting the Veterans Affairs.
