What you'll do
As Lead Superintendent on Giga's Project Development team, you will be at the center of building the physical infrastructure that powers the AI revolution. You'll lead and oversee all on-site labor operations for data center construction projects - from groundbreaking through commissioning- ensuring work is delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role where your decisions move concrete and steel. You'll work directly with subcontractors, project owners, and internal stakeholders to keep projects on track and solve problems before they become delays. Where you'll work
This is an on-site position that requires long term travel and/ or short term relocation. This person should be comfortable with 3-6 month periods of being at a location before moving to the next.
Ideal location is Houston, Texas with 80% travel expectation.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage all on-site labor, subcontractors, and construction activities for data center build projects from mobilization through turnover.
  • Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules, ensuring milestones are met and proactively identifying and mitigating schedule risks.
  • Coordinate daily field operations including manpower planning, equipment logistics, and material delivery sequencing.
  • Enforce and uphold safety standards on-site in alignment with HSE policies; act as a key partner to the HSE Manager to maintain a zero-incident culture.
  • Participate in constructability reviews during the design phase to ensure alignment between design intent and field execution.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and RFIs to ensure accurate field execution.
  • Conduct daily site walks and weekly progress meetings with subcontractors and project stakeholders.
  • Identify, document, and manage field change orders; coordinate with the project and Engineering teams on scope and cost impacts.
  • Manage construction budgets from preconstruction through closeout, conducting regular reviews to track expenditures, forecast costs, and maintain financial accountability.
  • Own construction schedules from preconstruction through closeout, conducting regular reviews to monitor progress, forecast completion, and uphold the schedule commitments that drive our business.
  • Enforce and uphold quality standards on-site in alignment with project specifications and QA/QC policies; act as a key partner to the Quality Manager to drive a culture of excellence.
  • Track and report construction progress, cost performance, and quality metrics to the Project Director.
  • Ensure punch list completion and support commissioning and closeout activities.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience as a Construction Manager or Superintendent on large-scale commercial, industrial, or mission-critical construction projects.
  • Direct experience managing subcontractors and field labor crews across multiple trades (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical)
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, civil, structural, MEP, and architectural specifications.
  • Experience with construction scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of construction safety regulations (OSHA 30 minimum).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent scopes of work and multiple subcontractor relationships on a single site.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder management.
Bonus points
  • Prior experience on data center, hyperscale, or mission-critical facility construction.
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes and handoff protocols for critical infrastructure.
  • OSHA 30 certification or higher.
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction management platforms.
  • Background working within fast-paced, high-growth development environments.
