Description
Adjunct Instructors within the College of Professional Studies (CPS) are critical to the success of UNE's online programs. The role of the instructor in CPS is to facilitate the learning process for online students through timely and effective instruction and communication. Instructors also serve as mentors, sharing their experience to guide students and ensure they achieve their educational and professional goals. The instructor supports student retention by creating a positive educational environment that allows students to derive maximum benefit from the program in which they are enrolled. Instructors receive supervision, collaboration, and guidance from the UNE Online Science Prerequisites for Health Professions (SPHP) Program.

Responsibilities
  • Providing expert knowledge in the specific exercise physiology content.
  • Guiding students through their educational experience while upholding and adhering to the CPS commitment to student success.
  • Providing timely responses to student inquiries within 24 hours.
  • Facilitating class instruction by engaging in the online course portal a minimum of five times per week.
  • Hosting a minimum of one hour of virtual office hours per week.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Physiology or a closely related field is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of teaching experience in the area of instruction.
  • Desire to motivate and encourage students in their academic and professional settings.
  • Previous instructional experience with adult learners, preferably in an online setting.
  • Familiarity with online teaching and/or a willingness to learn new technological approaches to education.
  • The ideal candidate possesses prior online classroom experience in an educational setting, the ability to communicate effectively with students, and a passion for teaching.
