School Psychologist - District - REMOTE for the 2026-2027School Year
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Director of Pupil Services, to assist students, teachers and parents in enabling students to derive the fullest potential educational experience from school by promoting positive self-esteem and resilience and providing suggested methods and plans for overcoming psychological or mental health problems.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
  • Conducts psychological assessments, testing and diagnostic examinations of students for the purpose of recommending courses of action or corrective procedures to maximize learning and overcoming psychological issues.
  • Conducts individual, group or facilitative therapy for students whose diagnosed problems would benefit from behavior modification or differentiated instruction.
  • Assists with the identification and placement of all types of exceptional students.
  • Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff members to ascertain individual student's abilities and needs, including students with special needs, and to familiarize stakeholders with psychological services.
  • Attends IEP meetings as needed for students with special needs.
  • Serves as a resource and consultant on mental health and child psychology, conducts in-service programs as requested.
  • Assists with the school district's dropout prevention efforts.
  • Serves as ready resource to students to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships.
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and providing student information to prospective colleges and employers, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Selects and requisitions appropriate books, aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.

Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other district office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Qualifications Profile

  • Delaware State Certification as a School Psychologist
  • Information about Delaware Certification/Licensure can be found on the Delaware Department of Education website: https://deeds.doe.k12.de.us/
    • Successful candidates must provide evidence of successful PRAXIS II scores or a valid out of state teaching license. An educator applying for a license in the State of DE with less than 1 year of experience will be placed on an Initial License and will be required to take and pass a Performance Assessment by the end of their 2nd year of teaching. Applicants with one completed year of experience, but less than 4 years of experience will receive an Initial License and are NOT required to pass a Performance Assessment (with proof of current and valid out of state license). Current holders of an Initial license are exempt from requirements to pass a Performance Assessment.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.

Education
  • Bachelor's from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • Master's Degree in Psychology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Teacher Certification - Delaware Code Title 14 Section 1500
NOTE: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required for all employees of the Seaford School District.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Interested and qualified candidates should complete an online application.
NOTE: Currently employed staff members interested and certified/licensed in this position will be given first consideration and should remit a staff transfer request on the Seaford School District website www.seafordbluejays.org no later than the application closing date referenced above.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: All new state employees will be required to participate in the State of Delaware's Direct Deposit system. With direct deposit, wage and salary payments are deposited in the employee's bank account via electronic funds transfer.
All final candidates for employment must have a satisfactory criminal background check before being placed on contract/payroll as per State of Delaware regulations. Candidates must call the Delaware State Police at (800) 464-4357 to make an appointment. The cost of the criminal background check is $65 (expense borne by the prospective employee). Final candidates must also receive a satisfactory child protection registry check.
Final candidates must also produce documentation of Mantoux skin test results for entrance to school system.
The State of Delaware has initiated a lag pay policy which means that new employees will receive the first paycheck at the end of the second pay period of work.
