    • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Design teams to ensure estimates align with project scope and customer expectations.
  • Technical & Design Support
    • Work closely with the engineering department to optimize designs for cost efficiency while maintaining structural integrity and code compliance.

    • Assist in the preparation of proposal documents, scope narratives, clarifications, and exclusions.
  • Bid Review & Handover
    • Participate in internal bid review meetings with management and senior leadership.
    • Present estimates clearly, highlighting assumptions, risks, and cost drivers.
    • Ensure smooth transition of winning bids to the Design and Production teams by providing detailed estimate breakdowns and scope of work documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Analyze completed projects versus estimates to identify variances and improve future accuracy.
    • Stay current with advancements in metal building systems, new materials, and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
    • 37+ years of experience as an Estimator in the metal building, structural steel, or pre-engineered building industry (required).
    • Strong understanding of pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) systems, including rigid frame, secondary members, standing seam roofs, insulated metal panels, etc.
  • Technical Skills
    • Proficient in reading and interpreting structural, architectural, and civil drawings.
    • Experience with metal building design and estimating software (e.g., MBS, SteelCAD, AirBuildr, Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam, or similar). MBS experience is a must. MBS Project and/or Tekla experience is a big plus.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, macros preferred).
    • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems used in manufacturing environments. Adjutant by ABIS a plus.
  • Knowledge Areas
    • Thorough knowledge of metal building fabrication processes and erection methods.
    • Understanding of building codes (IBC, AISC, MBMA, ASCE 7, etc.).
    • Working knowledge of related trades: foundations, mechanical, electrical, and site work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar certification.
  • Experience with 3D modeling and BIM (Building Information Modeling).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
