What are some common challenges faced in a remote sponsorship sales role, and how can they be effectively managed?

Remote sponsorship sales professionals often face challenges such as building trust with potential sponsors without in-person meetings, managing time zones, and staying motivated while working independently. To overcome these challenges, it's important to leverage video calls for relationship building, adopt efficient CRM tools to track leads and communications, and maintain a structured daily routine. Regular team check-ins and clear communication channels also help foster collaboration and keep everyone aligned on goals and progress.

What is remote sponsorship sales?

Remote sponsorship sales is a role where professionals work from a location outside of a traditional office—often from home—to identify, pitch, and secure sponsorship deals for events, products, or services. These salespeople build relationships with potential sponsors, negotiate agreements, and manage sponsor accounts, all through digital communication channels like email, phone calls, and video meetings. The position requires strong communication and negotiation skills, an understanding of marketing, and the ability to work independently without direct supervision.

At Key Media, you’ll generate sponsorship revenue for a portfolio of innovative B2B conferences and events across North America. You’ll work with senior decision‑makers at leading brands, selling high‑value sponsorship packages that put them at the heart of their industry conversations.

We’re a thriving global media business with teams in Australia, Canada, the US, the UK, New Zealand, Asia, and Europe. Working remotely in the United States, you’ll collaborate with colleagues worldwide and have opportunities for international travel and career progression.

About the Opportunity

This is a commercially focused role for a driven sales professional who wants to build a career in event sponsorship. You’ll own and grow a portfolio of in‑person events, developing deep, long‑term relationships with sponsors and constantly uncovering new opportunities in the B2B space.

You’ll have the autonomy to:

  • Drive the commercial development of a portfolio of face‑to‑face events
  • Sell sponsorship packages for B2B events across the North American region
  • Shape and refine sponsorship propositions to meet client objectives and hit ambitious revenue targets
  • Work closely with internal teams (Events, Marketing, Content, and Production) to deliver stand‑out experiences for sponsors and delegates

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive salary and commission structure, with strong earning potential
  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits
  • Flexible work: Remote with business travel
  • E‑learning and development support through LinkedIn Learning
  • Confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) with free access to counselling
  • Extra vacation: earn an additional paid vacation day for every year you’re with us
  • One paid volunteer day each year to support a cause you care about
  • Global career pathways, international travel opportunities, and exposure to senior stakeholders across multiple industries
  • Rewards and recognition programs, including quarterly awards, vouchers, and travel incentives
  • Travel Orange - work from anywhere in the world for up to 12 weeks of the year

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Selling sponsorship packages across a portfolio of high‑profile B2B events in North America
  • Driving new business by identifying, prospecting, and converting sponsorship opportunities with senior decision‑makers
  • Managing the full sales cycle – from lead generation and outreach through to pitching, negotiation, and closing
  • Developing long‑term relationships with sponsorship clients via phone, virtual meetings, and in‑person interactions
  • Tailoring sponsorship proposals and presentations to client objectives and budgets
  • Managing and growing existing accounts while continually hunting for new revenue streams
  • Applying Key Media’s sales methodology and maintaining accurate pipeline and activity records in CRM

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 1–2+ years of proven business sales experience – ideally in events or sponsorship sales, but we’re also open to talent from media, advertising, partnerships, or similar B2B environments
  • Sales Skills: Strong track record in prospecting, pitching, and closing deals, with confidence handling the full sales cycle
  • Industry Interest: A keen interest in large‑scale festivals, entertainment, or corporate events – prior experience is a bonus but not mandatory
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and present to senior stakeholders
  • Tech‑Savvy: Comfortable using CRM systems and prospecting tools, and confident working in a data‑driven, target‑oriented environment
  • Attitude: Enthusiastic, resilient, and results‑driven, with a genuine passion for the events industry and a willingness to learn fast
