Description & Requirements
Come join Maximus as the Director of Special Projects playing a critical leadership role in supporting the Chief of Staff and the executive team deliver the enterprise strategy. The Director of Special Projects acts as a trusted advisor, problem solver, and liaison, helping to achieve the organization's vision and strategic objectives.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting corporate strategy and delivering enterprise initiatives.
  • Experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, and/or operations management.
  • Public sector consulting experience is preferred.
  • Analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Experience in presenting to executive-level audience.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

The Director of Special Projects reports directly to the Chief of Staff and works closely with executive leadership. Some travel and after-hours work will be required, depending on organizational needs.
Traveling to the corporate headquarters to Tysons, VA may be required every other week.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution: assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring organizational strategies and priorities. Oversee cross-functional initiatives, ensuring alignment with the executive team's objectives. Identify process improvements and implement best practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Special Projects: Lead or participate in special initiatives as assigned by the Chief of Staff.
  • Drives decisive execution of enterprise level priorities by cutting through ambiguity, removing barriers, and ensuring strategic initiatives move forward with urgency, clarity, and measurable impact.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a liaison between the executive office and internal/external stakeholders. Facilitate clear communication and build positive relationships across the organization.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations in collaboration with the Chief of Staff. Support the Chief of Staff in decision-making, agenda setting, and materials preparation for executive and Board of Directors' meetings.

  • Excellent judgment, problem solving skills, emotional intelligence and intuition regarding interpersonal interactions, and meticulous attention to detail are a must
  • Strong business acumen and prior experience in a high-paced corporate environment
  • Expert-level analytical skills and experience with leading, executing, and synthesizing complex research, analysis, and project initiatives
  • Ability to work independently and make independent judgment on assigned duties
  • Excellent relationship skills and the ability to get things done in a collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully execute multiple complex tasks simultaneously
  • Experience in understanding of government services or government consulting services
