The Opportunity:
As a defense mission professional, you ask questions others don't. You understand the nuances of complex military exercises and know how to integrate technical capabilities that enhance operational realism and training effectiveness. We're looking for an expert like you to develop innovative modeling and simulation solutions that strengthen Joint Force readiness and support missions that keep our nation safe.
As a Space Exercise Modeling and Simulation Planner, you'll bring your technical, analytical, and exercise planning expertise to support United States Space Command (USSPACECOM) training, experimentation, and Tier 1 Joint exercises. You'll plan, coordinate, integrate, and synchronize modeling and simulation capabilities that enable realistic representations of military space operations across Space Domain Awareness (SDA), Orbital Warfare (OW), Missile Warning and Missile Defense (MWMD), Command and Control (C2), and Joint All-Domain Operations (JADO).
You'll work alongside exercise planners, operational subject matter experts, mission partners, software developers, and government stakeholders to identify exercise objectives, determine modeling and simulation requirements, and integrate simulation capabilities into complex Joint training environments. You'll serve as a trusted advisor throughout the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) by translating training objectives into executable modeling and simulation plans that support exercise design, planning conferences, execution, and after-action analysis.
You'll lead the planning, synchronization, and integration of modeling and simulation capabilities that improve exercise realism, enable tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) refinement, validate operational concepts, and strengthen Joint Force integration across Combatant Commands, Service Components, Allies, and Partners.
Further your career with us as you help solve complex modeling and simulation integration challenges supporting the nation's most critical space missions.
Join us. The world can't wait.
You Have:
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Combatant Command, Service Component, or Joint exercise planning activities
  • Experience utilizing the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) to plan, coordinate, and execute Joint military exercises and training events
  • Experience planning, coordinating, or integrating modeling and simulation capabilities into military training events or exercises
  • Experience using Systems Tool Kit (STK) to develop space scenarios, build high-fidelity simulation environments, model spacecraft and orbital systems, perform mission analysis, and support military training and exercises
  • Knowledge of military space operations, Combatant Command missions, and Joint exercise planning
  • Ability to translate exercise objectives into modeling and simulation requirements and develop integrated technical solutions
  • Ability to coordinate with government stakeholders, exercise planners, software developers, mission partners, and technical teams to integrate modeling and simulation capabilities into Joint exercises
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to support exercise planning conferences, capability integration events, technical working groups, and exercise execution
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience supporting United States Space Command, United States Space Force, United States Strategic Command, National Space Defense Center, Combined Space Operations Center, or other National Security Space organizations
  • Experience supporting Tier 1 or Joint exercises, including Initial Planning Conferences (IPC), Mid Planning Conferences (MPC), Final Planning Conferences (FPC), Master Scenario Events List (MSEL) development, exercise execution, and after-action activities
  • Experience integrating live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) modeling and simulation capabilities into military exercises
  • Experience developing exercise scenarios supporting Space Domain Awareness, Orbital Warfare, Missile Warning and Missile Defense, Command and Control, Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO), or Joint All-Domain Operations
  • Knowledge of Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM), Swarm, Kronos, Python, MATLAB, C#, SQL, REST APIs, data federation architectures, or distributed modeling and simulation environments
  • Knowledge of orbital mechanics, spacecraft operations, space mission analysis, and simulation interoperability
  • Ability to facilitate technical working groups, capability development working groups, planning conferences, and customer engagements
  • Ability to develop technical documentation, exercise support plans, executive-level briefings, and concepts of operation (CONOPS).
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Space Operations, Military Operations, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field
