Guidewire Sr. Consultant, Software Engineer (Personal Lines)

This role partners closely with business and engineering teams to deliver the best technical solutions for Personal Lines products. You'll contribute to our vision of being the P&C carrier of choice by creating and deploying strategic solutions that reflect efficiency, reliability, and performance.

What You'll Bring

  • Hands-on expertise with Guidewire PolicyCenter, including configuration, integration, and Digital Edge APIs

  • Strong technical depth in Guidewire tools and best practices, with the ability to translate business needs into effective solutions

  • Experience improving engineering productivity through modern development standards, code reviews, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines

  • Familiarity with AI, ML, and Generative AI capabilities that enhance automation, decision making, and customer experience

  • Ability to lead technical collaboration across agile teams and provide oversight for high quality, maintainable build work

  • Strength in troubleshooting complex production and development issues, identifying risks, and driving practical solutions

  • Experience mentoring engineers, sharing knowledge, and building strong cross-functional partnerships

  • Exposure to cloud and modern engineering environments, including AWS or Azure, containers, event-driven architecture, and secure coding practices

  • ACE Certification in Guidewire PolicyCenter 10.0 or above

Work Arrangement and Eligibility

  • Teams near our office locations (Columbus OH, Des Moines IA, Scottsdale AZ) work a hybrid in-office schedule with two days per week. For the right candidate, remote consideration is available.

As a Software Engineer you will focus on mentoring and leading others to deliver high quality, cost-effective technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications.

  • Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Mentors and trains others on design techniques, tools and coding standards.

  • Executes and provides strategic advice on using technology to achieve goals.

  • Drives cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams.

  • Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and best practices.

  • Champions the use of DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

  • Drives continuous learning and improvement through ongoing training, practice and innovation.

  • Works across organizations and product areas to drive joint technical roadmaps.

  • Manages individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables proactively.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Director or above.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience: Eight or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Hands on technical leadership experience leading project teams and setting technical direction. Proficiency in multiple programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Extensive knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle sophisticated business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
