Our partners include major organizations such as the WNBA and CONCACAF, and we deliver always-on content experiences that engage the internet's largest and most passionate fan communities.
Role Summary:
Wave Media Agency is searching for a temporary full-time Social Media Manager with a specialty in Soccer to support the day-to-day running of an Italian soccer property's social channels. The role is heavily focused on social programming that consists of: live match coverage, social-first short form video editing and weekday content creation (video + graphics). You'll work closely with the Creative Lead to deliver reactive, engaging content that helps grow a social audience across North America. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands soccer editing and social media - not just how to make content, but why certain content performs.
Responsibilities
  • Cover Italian matches live across Saturday and Sunday, with occasional Friday and Monday fixtures.
  • Create and publish fast, reactive content around goals, players, storylines and major match moments.
  • Edit social-first video content using Adobe Premiere Pro and existing templates.
  • Create graphics and supporting content during the week to maintain consistent publishing cadence.
  • Produce lifted edits, compilations, player-focused content, archive edits and trend-led social content.
  • Identify moments with strong viral, shareable or conversation-driving potential.
  • Write effective social copy, hooks and headlines.
  • Understand how to run and grow a social account across Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube.
  • Contribute ideas for new content formats, trends and recurring programming franchises.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and the wider team.
  • Work closely with the Creative Lead while also being comfortable taking ownership of content and making decisions independently.
  • Identify key tentpole events within the North American sporting calendar and adapt content with an Italian/ soccer-centric lens.

Qualifications
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Good working knowledge of Photoshop and wider Adobe Creative Cloud tools.
  • Strong understanding of football and football culture.
  • Excellent knowledge of social media, predominantly Instagram, and current platform trends.
  • Understanding of what makes short-form soccer content engaging, shareable and capable of reaching new audiences.
  • Experience creating content for social platforms, ideally within soccer, sport or entertainment.
  • Strong editorial judgement and the ability to identify compelling moments quickly.
  • Good social copywriting skills.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Previous experience working for a team, league, sports publisher, broadcaster or major social account would be highly desirable.
  • Experience with After Effects or motion graphics would be a bonus.

What to Expect
Weekend football coverage is a key part of the position, so applicants must be comfortable being available regularly on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the Italian season (August '26 - May '27), with some Friday and Monday match coverage depending on the schedule.
During the week, the focus will shift towards creating original content, graphics, edits, archive pieces and recurring programming to keep the channels active and engaging.
You'll be joining a fast-moving social environment where speed, creativity and good judgement matter. We're looking for someone proactive, reliable and hardworking who understands that the best social content is often about spotting the right moment and knowing exactly how to package it.
