What is a remote sleep nurse?

A Remote Sleep Nurse is a registered nurse who specializes in sleep health and provides care, education, and support to patients with sleep disorders through telehealth or virtual platforms. They assess sleep patterns, monitor treatment compliance (such as CPAP therapy), and offer guidance on sleep hygiene without needing in-person visits. Remote Sleep Nurses collaborate closely with sleep specialists and other healthcare providers to ensure patients receive comprehensive care for conditions like insomnia, sleep apnea, and restless legs syndrome.

How does a remote sleep nurse typically collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to manage patient care?

Remote Sleep Nurses play a vital role in a multidisciplinary team by coordinating with sleep physicians, respiratory therapists, and primary care providers. They often review sleep study data, monitor patient progress, and relay critical updates or concerns to the appropriate specialists. Communication is typically conducted through secure telehealth platforms, electronic medical records, and regular virtual meetings. This collaborative approach ensures comprehensive patient care and allows nurses to contribute valuable insights while working remotely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote sleep nurse, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Sleep Nurse, you need a solid background in nursing, sleep medicine knowledge, and a valid RN license, often complemented by experience in sleep disorders or certification such as the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic health records (EHRs), and remote patient monitoring tools is crucial. Strong communication, problem-solving, and empathy are important soft skills for providing patient education and support virtually. These competencies ensure effective patient care, accurate remote assessments, and successful management of sleep-related health concerns in a virtual environment.

Job description

Nurse Practitioner - Telemedicine Sleep Medicine Specialist

Sleep Reset, a health tech startup, is seeking licensed NPs to provide remote sleep medicine consultations in select states. The role involves conducting virtual assessments and developing personalized treatment plans using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTI). This fully remote position offers competitive compensation and flexible scheduling, ideal for physicians experienced in telemedicine and passionate about sleep health.

Sleep Reset is the only digital sleep clinic that combines licensed clinical care with proven science-backed technology to treat sleep disorders at scale. The company addresses a massive market opportunity, with 70 million Americans struggling with sleep disorders that cost the economy $411 billion annually. Sleep Reset has demonstrated peer-reviewed clinical results: patients gain an average of 85 more minutes of rest per night and fall asleep 53% faster. With nationwide coverage through major insurers including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare, Sleep Reset makes gold-standard sleep care both accessible and convenient. Backed by leading investors such as Y Combinator, Foundation Capital, and Stanford University, and featured in Forbes, TechCrunch, The Wall Street Journal, and CNBC, Sleep Reset is shaping the future of personalized digital healthcare—delivering better outcomes at lower cost with scalable care.

At Sleep Reset, we're transforming how healthcare is delivered—by helping people reclaim their sleep. We are a health tech company dedicated to improving sleep and overall well-being through personalized cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBTI). Our mission is to provide patients with innovative, science-based, and holistic solutions for better sleep.

As we expand, we're looking for passionate and driven NPs licensed across the U.S. to join our remote telemedicine team. If you're an empathetic clinician who's eager to make a tangible impact in the lives of patients suffering from sleep disorders, we want to hear from you!

What You'll Do:

  • Provide Remote Consultations: Conduct thorough patient assessments, gather health history, and evaluate sleep patterns and symptoms via telemedicine. You'll develop and implement personalized treatment plans that may include lifestyle changes, behavioral therapy, and appropriate medical interventions.
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work alongside a team of sleep professionals, including behavioral health specialists, sleep technologists, and health coaches to offer holistic care.
  • Offer Preventive Care: Help patients address sleep hygiene, stress management, and other lifestyle factors that impact sleep. Engage in proactive care to prevent sleep disorders from escalating.
  • Monitor and Adjust Treatment Plans: Follow up with patients through video calls to track progress, adjust treatment strategies, and provide ongoing support to ensure optimal results.
  • Stay Updated: Participate in continuous education and training to remain on the cutting edge of sleep medicine, functional medicine, and telehealth.
  • Document Care: Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in compliance with HIPAA standards. Provide concise, detailed progress notes after each consultation.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) in California, Texas, New York, or Illinois with current and unrestricted state licensure.
  • Commitment to Preventive and Personalized Care: We believe in treating the whole person, not just symptoms. You should be passionate about preventive care and using a personalized, root-cause approach to sleep health.
  • Empathetic and Patient-Centered: You are a compassionate provider who is skilled in listening to patients and offering actionable solutions. You will build long-term relationships with patients and support them throughout their treatment journey.
  • Telemedicine Experience: Comfortable with telehealth platforms, conducting remote consultations, and documenting care electronically. You should be adept at building rapport and maintaining a strong "bedside manner."
  • Strong Communication Skills: You excel in communication and can explain complex medical concepts to patients in an easy-to-understand and empathetic way.
  • Technology-Savvy: Familiar with using video calls, scheduling tools, and digital health platforms. Experience with electronic health records (EHRs) is a plus.

What We Offer:

  • Passionate Team: We are a small but highly motivated team in a fast-growing startup, driven by a shared vision to make a meaningful impact. Each member plays a key role, and we thrive on collaboration, innovation, and the energy that comes from building something from the ground up.
  • Fully Remote Position: Work from the comfort of your home with a flexible schedule.
  • Competitive Compensation: Get a competitive pay range based on experience. The potential for performance-based bonuses based on patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Malpractice Insurance: We provide coverage for all contracted clinicians.

Why Sleep Reset?

At Sleep Reset, we're not just treating sleep disorders—we're transforming lives. We provide our patients with the tools they need to restore balance to their lives, all while helping our clinicians thrive in a flexible and supportive environment.
