What is a remote shopper?

Remote shoppers are individuals who assist customers with purchasing goods and services online or over the phone, rather than in a physical store. They help clients select products, compare options, place orders, and sometimes coordinate deliveries. Remote shoppers may work for retail companies, grocery stores, or specialized shopping services. Their main goal is to provide a convenient and personalized shopping experience for customers who prefer or need to shop remotely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote shopper?

To thrive as a Remote Shopper, you need strong attention to detail, product knowledge, and customer service skills, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with online ordering systems, inventory management software, and mobile apps is typically required. Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities help you stand out in this customer-focused role. These skills and qualities are crucial to accurately fulfill orders, provide a positive customer experience, and ensure efficient operations in a remote shopping environment.

How do remote shoppers effectively communicate with clients and team members to ensure accurate order fulfillment?

Remote Shoppers typically use a combination of messaging apps, email, and company platforms to stay in touch with both clients and their support teams throughout the shopping process. Clear communication is key for clarifying preferences, substitutions, and delivery details, especially when working remotely. Many employers provide dedicated tools or apps to streamline updates and approvals, making collaboration efficient despite the physical distance. Being proactive in updating clients about product availability and coordinating with logistics or customer service teams helps ensure orders are completed accurately and on time.

Job description

Orases Shopper Marketing (OSM)

Orases Shopper Marketing (https://shoppermarketing.orases.com) is a turnkey shopper marketing agency built around deep grocery retail expertise, especially the Publix ecosystem. We're a lean, high-trust team where the people who bring in the business also run it, and we're looking for someone who can do both. Preference for this remote role will be given to applicants residing in the Southeastern region of the United States.

What you'll do:
This is a revenue-generating role: you will prospect, pitch, and close new client relationships, then own the full execution of the programs you sell, from development through vendor management to post-campaign results. You'll operate with real autonomy, working directly with agency leadership rather than through layers of process.

As an Account Manager, you are responsible for generating revenue by prospecting and closing new clients, and managing those client relationships to maintain and grow revenue. This is not an entry-level or coordinator-level position. This role requires demonstrated, quota-carrying experience personally prospecting, pitching, and closing new business, candidates without direct CPG (consumer packaged goods), grocery retail, or shopper marketing experience will not be considered.

You should have an established network and the ability to leverage relationships into sales opportunities, with proven success across the full sales cycle, including lead generation, driving new opportunities, and managing prospect relationships. This role also owns the full execution of client programs from concept through completion. Given the department's structure, this role operates with a high degree of autonomy and is expected to independently manage the full scope of client acquisition and program execution, with regular alignment with leadership.

Success in this role requires excellent verbal and written communication, high attention to detail, and strong proofreading skills. This role includes travel to client-facing meetings and presentations as needed; such travel is expected to be infrequent. This job description is not intended to include all duties and responsibilities. Team members may be requested to perform additional tasks that may or may not relate directly to the primary role, as business needs dictate.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Business Development & Sales

  • Develop and execute sales strategies and action plans to approach and secure new clients, sales opportunities, and revenue streams, including new products and services
  • Meet and strive to exceed sales targets to meet the vision and strategy that align with Shopper Marketing and overall company goals and strategy
  • Maintain working knowledge of in-store, out-of-store, and digital marketing channels (print, POS/displays, paid social, programmatic, email) to inform sales strategy and client recommendations
  • Complete a thorough needs analysis to determine each client's needs
  • Create proposal and pitch decks, and pitch and close programs with current and prospective clients
  • Monitor sales and market trends, and refine the sales process to increase profitability

Account & Client Management

  • Create and maintain positive business relationships with current, new, and prospective clients, maximizing accounts both vertically and horizontally
  • Maintain quality control on all programs and communications, both external and internal
  • Maintain accurate records within the CRM consistently, reporting to Leadership as requested

Program & Project Management

  • Collaborate with the creative team to develop creative briefs and launch creative concepts, providing images, content, and templates/mockups as needed
  • Review creative for accuracy, update using Adobe tools when needed, and manage the proofing process with vendors
  • Create and manage program timelines across multiple concurrent programs to ensure vendor and client deadlines are met
  • Analyze programs individually and compare results across programs to identify ways to make future programs more efficient and profitable

Vendor Management

  • Source, vet, and negotiate rates with vendors across all forms of media, onboarding new vendors and replacing existing ones as needed while maintaining quality
  • Monitor and manage vendor budgets, contracts, deadlines, and performance, evaluating efficiencies and providing recommendations for improvement

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Manage Profit & Loss statements, focusing on reducing hard costs and increasing profitability across day-to-day functions and client programs
  • Manage sales projections and budgets, tracking and reporting on KPIs to meet and exceed goals and identify potential improvements
  • Track and report on KPIs, identifying and recommending potential improvements

What you bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years of quota-carrying proven sales experience with a documented track record of personally prospecting, client pitching, and closing new business.
  • Experience managing client programs/projects end-to-end, from concept through completion
  • Established relationships and prior experience within the CPG, marketing agency, food broker, or grocery retail space (Publix Super Markets is preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a communications-related field is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and HubSpot CRM
  • Hands-on proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to build, resize, and optimize marketing creatives
  • Solid understanding of in-store, out-of-store, and digital marketing channels, including POS/displays, circulars, out-of-home, retail media networks, paid social, programmatic, and email
  • Strong analytical capabilities to translate programmatic data (DSP), redemption metrics, and spreadsheet insights into actionable, client-presented post-campaign evaluations
  • Familiarity with WordPress site knowledge is a plus
  • Superior communication skills (verbal and written) paired with a critical eye for detail and precise proofreading
  • Highly organized and able to work independently with little supervision, managing time and multiple priorities effectively in a high-intensity, fast-paced environment
  • Professional representative of company values, culture, and brand
