Work EnvironmentCollaborates across backend and frontend teams, often involved in architecture decisionsFocuses primarily on UI development, design, and user experience
Common UsageUsed in roles requiring full project responsibility, backend integration, and system designUsed in roles emphasizing user interface, visual design, and client-side logic

The Remote Senior Full Stack Software Engineer and Remote Front End Developer roles share some skills but differ mainly in scope. The senior full stack engineer handles both front-end and back-end development, often leading entire projects, while the front end developer specializes in creating engaging user interfaces. Your choice depends on whether you prefer a broader technical role or a focus on UI/UX design.

What does a Remote Senior Full Stack Software Engineer do?

A Remote Senior Full Stack Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining both the front-end and back-end components of web applications, all while working from a remote location. They collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver scalable and efficient software solutions. Senior engineers typically lead technical decisions, mentor junior developers, and ensure best coding practices are followed. Their expertise spans multiple programming languages, frameworks, and tools used throughout the software development lifecycle.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Senior Full Stack Software Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Senior Full Stack Software Engineer, you need advanced expertise in both front-end and back-end development, typically demonstrated by a degree in computer science or equivalent experience. Mastery of frameworks and tools such as React, Node.js, RESTful APIs, version control (Git), and familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure are commonly required, along with relevant certifications. Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and self-management skills are crucial for collaborating in distributed teams and delivering complex projects independently. These skills and qualities are vital for building robust applications, ensuring seamless teamwork, and driving successful project outcomes in a remote work environment.

How do Remote Senior Full Stack Software Engineers typically collaborate with distributed teams to ensure project success?

Remote Senior Full Stack Software Engineers frequently work with cross-functional teams spread across various locations and time zones. Effective collaboration relies on regular video meetings, agile project management tools, and clear documentation to keep everyone aligned. These engineers often take on a leadership role, mentoring junior developers and facilitating communication between frontend, backend, and product stakeholders. Proactively addressing challenges such as time zone differences and asynchronous communication is key to maintaining productivity and project momentum.

Who we are looking for:

We're looking for a senior full-stack engineer who is excellent at the craft and equally fluent at directing AI agents to do great engineering work.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll design, build, and ship full-stack features across our platform - from .NET backend services and APIs to modern web front-ends. You'll work in an agentic-first workflow, using AI coding agents to plan, implement, test, and review code, while owning architecture, quality, and outcomes end to end.

You set the bar for how engineering is done here: you decompose ambitious problems into work an agent can execute, review and harden what the agent produces, and bring the judgment, system design, and accountability that turn AI-accelerated output into reliable, production-grade software.

What you will get to do:

Build full-stack software

  • EndtoEnd Ownership.Design and ship features end to end - backend services and APIs (preferably .NET / C#), data access, and modern webfront-ends(e.g.Vue,React/TypeScript).
  • Own architecture and technical design for the features and services you lead, balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Engineering Excellence.Write clean, well-tested, observable code and uphold strong engineering practices:comprehensivetesting, code review, CI/CD, and operational excellence.

Workagentically

  • Drive agents.Use AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code and similar tools) as a core part of your daily workflow to plan, implement, test, refactor, and review software.
  • Break complex work into clear, well-scoped tasks and write the specs, context, and guardrails that let agents produce high-quality results.
  • Rigorously review, test, and harden agent-generated code - youremainaccountable for correctness, security, and quality.
  • Level up.Improve how the whole team works with agents: share patterns, build reusable prompts/tooling, and raise the team's agentic-engineering maturity.

Collaborate and deliver

  • Partner with Product, Design, and other engineers to turn ambiguous problems into shipped, customer-facing value.
  • Mentorpeers, contribute to technical direction, and helpestablishstandards for an agentic-first engineering culture.

What you will need to succeed:

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Hands-on experience building software with an agentic engineering approach - using AI coding agents/assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar) to plan, implement, and review real production work, not just autocomplete.
  • Strong fundamentals in system design, data modeling, APIs, relational databases (e.g., SQL Server/PostgreSQL), testing, and CI/CD.
  • Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and comfort with modern delivery practices (containers, automated pipelines, observability).
  • Excellent judgment and code-review skills - able to critically evaluate and harden AI-generated code for correctness, security, and performance.
  • Clear communicator who can decompose ambiguous problems and collaborate effectively across a distributed, remote team.

Education and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production full-stack applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required; equivalent practical experience considered

Nice to Have:

  • Experience writing prompts, custom agent tooling, MCP servers, or agentic workflows; familiarity with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic) and RAG.
  • Background in B2B SaaS, document/process automation, or other data- and workflow-heavy enterprise domains.
  • Familiarity with security and compliance in multi-tenant SaaS (e.g., SOC 2).
  • Open-source contributions or a track record of raising engineering practices on a team

Worksite Location: This is a remote role. Candidates must be based in the United States. Regular travel is expected for partner meetings, business reviews, industry events, and company gatherings.

*MHC is based in the Twin Cities area, and candidates who currently reside in or near the area are preferred.
