Job description

Specialised Part-Time Consulting Opportunity for Experienced Registered Nurses

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced registered nurses with regular professional use of UpToDate Lexidrug or Lexicomp and strong expertise in medication administration, reconciliation, interaction review, escalation, and clinical documentation.

This role supports an advanced AI initiative focused on evaluating realistic nursing and medication-safety workflows. Selected professionals will review AI-generated clinical scenarios, assess whether medication-related decisions reflect the patient's complete medication history and administration timeline, and determine whether appropriate nursing actions, escalation, and documentation have been completed.

Key Responsibilities

Medication Safety Review

  • Review a patient's full active medication list before evaluating administration decisions
  • Assess potential drug interactions and medication-safety concerns using Lexidrug or Lexicomp
  • Determine when findings require a medication hold and escalation to pharmacy or the prescribing clinician
  • Identify situations where administration may proceed safely based on the available clinical information
  • Evaluate decisions in the context of the complete medication and treatment history

Medication Reconciliation & Administration

  • Review medication reconciliation across admission, transfer, and discharge workflows
  • Identify discrepancies between home medications, brought-from-home medications, and active orders
  • Evaluate administration timing, sequencing, and medication history
  • Identify missed interactions, reconciliation gaps, or inappropriate administration decisions
  • Assess whether relevant clinical information has been incorporated into the medication review

Adverse Reactions & Clinical Escalation

  • Identify adverse-reaction patterns in relation to actual medication administration timelines
  • Assess whether symptoms may require medication-related escalation
  • Distinguish issues that can be addressed within nursing scope from those requiring pharmacy or prescriber involvement
  • Evaluate whether appropriate doses were held when necessary
  • Confirm that relevant clinicians were notified and escalation was documented appropriately

Clinical Workflow Evaluation

  • Review AI-generated attempts at realistic nursing and medication-safety tasks
  • Determine whether nursing actions are accurate, complete, and supported by the clinical record
  • Verify that identified issues were carried through into appropriate action and documentation
  • Identify incomplete workflows where concerns were recognised without appropriate follow-through
  • Provide clear written assessments explaining errors, omissions, and appropriate next steps

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • At least 2 years of professional nursing experience
  • Current or recent hands-on use of Lexidrug or Lexicomp, typically weekly or more
  • An RN licence in good standing
  • Strong experience with medication administration and medication-safety workflows
  • Knowledge of drug interactions, medication reconciliation, and adverse-reaction monitoring
  • Experience determining when medication-related concerns require escalation
  • Ability to review complete clinical records and medication histories
  • Strong professional judgment, attention to detail, and written communication skills

Educational Background

  • RN licensure in good standing is required
  • A BSN or higher nursing qualification is preferred
  • Inpatient or acute-care nursing experience is strongly preferred
  • Equivalent clinical experience involving medication administration, reconciliation, and patient-safety review may also be highly relevant

Nice to Have

  • Experience using Trissel's IV Compatibility
  • Knowledge of Y-site and syringe compatibility and multi-infusion line management
  • Experience administering high-alert medications such as insulin, anticoagulants, opioids, chemotherapy, or sedation medications
  • Familiarity with paediatric or weight-based medication administration
  • Experience with geriatric medication precautions and Beers Criteria-relevant medications
  • Background in ICU, oncology, paediatrics, geriatrics, or another speciality setting
  • Experience providing medication-related discharge education to patients or caregivers
  • Familiarity with Drug I.D. during medication reconciliation
  • Prior data annotation, structured review, or AI evaluation experience

Why This Opportunity

  • Apply professional nursing expertise to advanced medication-safety evaluation work
  • Work with realistic clinical scenarios involving administration, reconciliation, interactions, and escalation
  • Use Lexidrug or Lexicomp knowledge in structured clinical review workflows
  • Help improve the accuracy and completeness of AI systems operating in nursing contexts
  • Participate in flexible remote consulting work with competitive hourly compensation

Contract Details

  • Independent contractor role
  • Fully remote with flexible scheduling
  • Competitive rates between $70–$105 per hour depending on expertise and project scope
  • Work may include medication-safety review, reconciliation assessment, administration evaluation, escalation review, and structured clinical feedback
  • Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or adjusted depending on scope and performance
  • Work will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution
