Job description

The Communications and Marketing Department at the Darden School of Business is seeking two energetic student assistants to support our websites this summer.

This summer, we are beginning a major initiative to rebuild our news and thought leadership websites into a single, modern content hub. The student assistants will help migrate content into the new platform, use the latest AI tools to develop workflows within the system, and participate in technical meetings with our software development vendors.

Depending on each candidate's experience and interests, there may also be opportunities to contribute to digital design, web development, and analytics.

About the position:

Core functions include:

  • Main responsibility: Migrate content from our old websites into a modern content management system built on Contentful, and support AI enabled workflows within the tool with metadata development, tagging, and image optimization.

  • Crop and size digital collateral for web and other platforms.

  • Audit Darden websites using SEMrush to identify technical issues such as broken links, misspellings, and missing or incorrect metadata, improving overall site quality and user experience.

  • Resolve reported 404 errors by updating or redirecting outdated URLs, ensuring seamless navigation and preserving search engine rankings.

  • Review and update page metadata (e.g., meta descriptions, titles) to align with SEO best practices, enhancing the School's visibility in search results.

  • Collaborate with AI-assisted tools to draft and refine metadata, gaining hands-on experience with emerging technologies in digital marketing.

  • Re-scan and validate website updates through SEMrush to confirm issue resolution and track improvements over time.

  • Use Google Analytics to monitor website performance and measure the impact of updates, developing data analysis skills while informing ongoing optimization efforts.

  • Crop and size digital collateral for web and other platforms

  • Support the AI-workflows in our digital asset management system (Bynder.)

Desired skills:

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with CMS platforms (Drupal and WordPress); Contentful experience a plus.

  • Basic understanding of SEO, metadata, redirects, and website quality assurance.

  • Experience with or interest in SEO, Google Analytics, and digital asset management tools.

  • Ability to work with AI-enabled tools and workflows.

  • Comfortable cropping and optimizing images for web use.

  • Strong written communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Interest in digital marketing, web operations, and emerging marketing technology.

You will work about 30-40 hours a week on these tasks. The position will report to the Senior Associate Director of Web Development and Technical Systems, and work collaboratively across the Enterprise Marketing team with graphic designers, content specialists, and digital marketers to provide support on their projects.

The position can be completed fully remote.

The ideal candidate will have some experience with website CMS systems like Drupal or WordPress or is eager to learn them. Some experience with photo editing software is preferred but not required.
