How much do remote scientist jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 30, 2026, the average yearly pay for remote scientist in the United States is $127,031.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $109,000.00 and $143,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Can you work remotely as a scientist?

Remote scientists can perform their work from home or other locations using digital tools, data analysis software, and communication platforms. Many scientific roles, especially in data analysis, research, and writing, are suitable for remote work, though some positions requiring laboratory access or fieldwork may require onsite presence. Employers often specify whether a role is fully remote or hybrid based on job responsibilities.

How can I make 2000 a week working from home?

A remote scientist can earn $2,000 a week by leveraging specialized skills in research, data analysis, or laboratory techniques, often through consulting, freelance projects, or contract work. Building a strong professional network, maintaining certifications, and using platforms like Upwork or specialized scientific job boards can help find high-paying opportunities. Consistent high-quality work and expertise in in-demand areas are essential for reaching this income level remotely.

How to make $100,000 a year working from home?

A remote scientist can reach a $100,000 annual income by gaining specialized expertise in high-demand fields such as data analysis, bioinformatics, or environmental science, often requiring advanced degrees and certifications. Building a strong professional network, publishing research, and utilizing platforms like LinkedIn can help secure higher-paying consulting or research roles that offer remote work options and competitive salaries.

What jobs pay 10,000 a month without a degree?

A remote scientist role typically requires advanced education, but some related high-paying jobs like freelance consulting, specialized technical roles, or sales positions in scientific equipment can pay $10,000 or more monthly without a formal degree. Success in these roles often depends on experience, skills, and industry knowledge rather than formal education alone.

What is a Remote Scientist job?

A Remote Scientist is a professional who conducts scientific research, analysis, and experiments while working remotely, often using digital tools and virtual collaboration platforms. They may work in various fields, including environmental science, data science, biotechnology, and engineering. Remote Scientists communicate their findings through reports, presentations, or virtual meetings with colleagues and stakeholders. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, self-discipline, and proficiency in using remote research tools.

What does a typical workday look like for a Remote Scientist?

A typical day for a Remote Scientist often involves analyzing datasets, designing experiments or simulations, collaborating with team members via video calls or shared digital platforms, and preparing reports or presentations. Depending on their specialization, they may spend time running remote experiments, writing scientific papers, or contributing to grant proposals. While much of the work is independent, regular virtual meetings are held to ensure alignment with projects and to discuss research progress. This structure allows Remote Scientists to balance focused research time with teamwork and ongoing professional development.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Scientist position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Scientist, you need a strong grounding in scientific research methods, data analysis, and a relevant advanced degree such as a Master's or Ph.D. Tools like statistical software (e.g., R, Python), laboratory management systems, and secure data-sharing platforms are frequently used, along with certifications in specialized areas if required. Exceptional written and verbal communication, self-motivation, and organizational skills are essential for effectively collaborating within remote teams and managing independent projects. These abilities ensure remote scientists maintain high research standards, deliver impactful findings, and successfully bridge the gap between virtual collaboration and tangible scientific progress.

Job description

Role Overview

The Data Scientist will own the measurement science behind Audiohook\'s performance audio advertising platform. You\'ll design and run incrementality tests, build and maintain marketing mix models, and apply causal analysis to quantify how Audiohook drives outcomes for advertisers. This role combines hands-on modeling with the opportunity to shape how we prove value to customers, sharpen our bidding and optimization systems, and influence product direction. You\'ll collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure measurement isn\'t just statistically sound but operationally useful.

Key ResponsibilitiesMarketing Measurement & Causal Inference
  • Design and run incrementality experiments (geo, ghost bidding, holdout, PSA) that quantify Audiohook\'s lift for advertisers

  • Build, maintain, and evolve marketing mix models (MMM) and multi-touch attribution analyses across customer campaigns

  • Apply causal inference methods โ€” difference-in-differences, synthetic controls, instrumental variables, propensity scoring โ€” to questions that can\'t be answered with RCTs

  • Translate measurement results into clear narratives for advertisers, internal stakeholders, and the product team

Modeling & Analysis
  • Partner with Engineering on the data and modeling layer that powers bidding, pacing, and optimization decisions

  • Develop and validate predictive models that improve campaign performance and platform efficiency

  • Instrument experiments and analyses for reproducibility, monitoring, and ongoing measurement quality

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success on measurement studies for priority accounts and renewals

  • Partner with Product on roadmap inputs grounded in causal evidence, not just descriptive data

  • Present findings to advertisers, internal teams, and leadership in clear, decision-ready formats

  • Communicate clearly and proactively in a remote-first environment

QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related quantitative field

  • 3โ€“5 years of applied data science experience with a focus on marketing measurement โ€” incrementality, MMM, attribution, or causal analysis

  • Hands-on experience designing and analyzing experiments (A/B, geo, holdout) in a marketing or advertising context

  • Strong fluency in Python (pandas, statsmodels, scikit-learn, PyMC, or similar) and SQL

  • Solid grounding in statistical inference, regression, and causal methods

  • Ability to communicate technical results to non-technical audiences โ€” advertisers, sales, leadership

  • Excellent attention to detail and intellectual honesty about model limitations

Preferred
  • Experience in adtech, digital advertising, or media measurement

  • Experience with Bayesian methods or Bayesian MMM frameworks (e.g., PyMC-Marketing, LightweightMMM, Robyn)

  • Experience working with large-scale ad event data (impressions, clicks, conversions) and modern data stacks (e.g., Iceberg, Snowflake, BigQuery)

  • Experience in a startup or high-growth company

  • Comfort using AI tools to accelerate exploratory analysis, code, and write-ups while maintaining methodological rigor

What We Offer
  • Fully remote work environment

  • Competitive salary and equity opportunities

  • Performance bonuses

  • Health, dental, and vision benefits

  • Other benefits such as daily lunch stipend, monthly wifi, cell phone and subscription reimbursement, and annual hardware stipend

  • Flexible PTO and remote-friendly culture

  • Bi-annual Corporate Offsites

  • Opportunity to help shape a function at a rapidly scaling tech company
