  • Prepare computer-based models and perform power system studies using ETAP, SKM, PSS/E, PSCAD, or similar software, including short circuit, load flow, protective device coordination, arc flash, motor starting, harmonic analysis, and related studies.
  • Develop and maintain power system models, validate study results using engineering judgment, and prepare clear technical reports and recommendations for clients and project teams.
  • Support medium and high voltage T&D projects, including overhead and underground distribution systems, utility coordination, distribution upgrades, transmission studies, and construction package development.
  • Support substation, relay, and protection-related engineering activities, including relay coordination, protective relay settings, and control and relaying schematics under the direction of senior engineers.
  • Develop electrical deliverables such as one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, calculations, studies, RFIs, and construction packages.
  • Coordinate directly with clients, utilities, vendors, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to support project execution and resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in client meetings, communicate technical findings, document action items, and support engineering decisions through clear written and verbal communication.
  • Support projects from preliminary design through detailed design, including 30%, 60%, 90%, and issued-for-construction deliverables with oversight from senior engineering staff.

  • Check the work of designers, drafters, and field personnel for general quality and accuracy as required.
  • Understand and apply applicable codes, standards, and client requirements such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and utility standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Must Have

  • Education: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution; electric power option preferred

  • Knowledge and familiarity with medium-voltage and low-voltage power systems; experience with distribution, transmission, substation, or industrial power systems preferred
  • Utility distribution experience, including exposure to overhead and underground distribution systems, utility standards, and utility coordination
  • Exposure to protective relaying, relay coordination, SEL relays, substation systems, or utility interconnections is preferred
  • Previous interactions with clients, customers, contractors, utilities, vendors, and other project stakeholders
  • Ability to assist with client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments, meetings, and project deliverables
