What is a remote roofing estimator?

Remote Roofing Estimators are professionals who assess roofing projects and provide cost estimates without physically visiting the site. They use digital tools, satellite imagery, photographs, and architectural drawings to analyze the scope of work and determine pricing for materials and labor. This role is crucial for contractors and homeowners to plan budgets accurately and efficiently. Remote Roofing Estimators often communicate with clients and onsite teams to clarify project details and ensure accurate bids.

How does a remote roofing estimator typically collaborate with on-site teams to ensure accurate project assessments?

A Remote Roofing Estimator often works closely with on-site supervisors, project managers, and field technicians to gather detailed measurements, photographs, and project specifications. Communication is key—estimators regularly use video calls, digital collaboration tools, and cloud-based documentation to review site conditions and clarify any uncertainties. By maintaining consistent contact and fostering strong working relationships, remote estimators help ensure that their assessments align with real-world site needs and client expectations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote roofing estimator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Roofing Estimator, you need a solid understanding of construction principles, roofing materials, and cost estimation, typically supported by experience in the roofing or construction industry. Familiarity with digital estimation tools, takeoff software like PlanSwift or RoofSnap, and proficiency in spreadsheet applications are essential. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and organizational skills help you stand out when managing multiple projects and collaborating remotely. These skills ensure accurate estimates, effective client communication, and successful project outcomes in a competitive and remote work environment.

Job description

Daniels Property Group (DPG) is the real estate partner of Daniels Health, supporting the acquisition, development, construction, and management of healthcare and industrial facilities across North America. As Daniels continues to expand, DPG is building an internal construction team responsible for maintaining, improving, and protecting our facilities.

We're looking for motivated Roofing Technicians to join our national roofing team. Working alongside our Roofing Foreman / Superintendent, you'll travel throughout the United States performing roof inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance, and roof replacement projects on Daniels-owned facilities.

Unlike traditional roofing contractors, our work is focused on improving and maintaining our own properties—allowing for consistent, high-quality workmanship without chasing the next bid.

What you will do
  • Perform commercial roof repairs, replacements, and preventative maintenance.
  • Install, repair, and maintain commercial roofing systems including TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, metal roofing, flashing, sealants, and associated components.
  • Assist with roof inspections and identify maintenance or repair needs.
  • Safely operate roofing tools, equipment, lifts, and fall protection systems.
  • Load, unload, and organize materials and equipment at project sites.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow OSHA regulations and Daniels safety procedures at all times.
  • Work closely with the Roofing Foreman / Superintendent to complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Support additional facility improvement and construction projects as needed.
  • Travel extensively throughout the United States to support Daniels facilities.
What we are looking for
  • 2+ years of commercial roofing experience preferred.
  • Experience with commercial roofing systems including TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, and metal roofing.
  • Knowledge of commercial roofing safety practices and OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to safely work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong work ethic with a willingness to travel extensively.
  • Ability to lift and carry roofing materials and equipment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Why work for us
  • Essential and stable industry – As a critical partner to healthcare, Daniels Health offers year-round job security in a recession-resistant field
  • Mission-driven work – Make a meaningful impact by supporting safer, more sustainable medical waste management
  • Strong safety culture – We prioritize your well-being with enhanced PPE protocols and a commitment to workplace safety
  • Growth opportunities – Be part of a company that invests in its people and promotes from within
  • Comprehensive benefits – Enjoy medical, dental, and vision coverage starting on Day One, plus additional wellness and insurance options
  • Supportive team environment – Join a collaborative, values-driven culture where your contributions are recognized and respected
