The Sales Engineer - Data Centers works under the guidance of the Senior Director of Sales - Data Centers and supports the promotion and technical pre-sales support of Generac Industrial products with a focus on large kW generators, BESS, micro-grid energy solutions for Data Centers . This role assists assigned National Account or Account Manager(s) with data center MEP Engineering Firms and EPC/GC Construction firms to achieve a Generac product being specified and sourced. The Sales Engineer - Data Centers will also support lunch & learn presentations, and training seminars for the engineering community.
**This position will be remote/hybrid, and the ideal candidate will need to live near a major airport for traveling purposes**
Essential Duties:
  • Support engineer engagement within assigned territory by identifying key firms and driving specification of Generac products
  • Educate and influence engineering firms on Generac's Data Center energy solutions
  • Provide onsite and remote technical sales support for Generac Industrial products
  • Utilize tools (PDSS, fly-ins, visits, Engineering Symposium, Power Design Pro, etc.) to support and educate the engineering community
  • Provide real-time voice-of-customer feedback to management
  • Assist National Account Manager, Account Manager(s) on projects to ensure Generac products are specified and sourced
  • Develop sales tools and competitive analyses while researching and qualifying engineering firms and EPC/GC Construction firms using Dodge Analytics
  • Co-present engineering training seminars and support "train-the-trainer" initiatives; perform additional duties as assigned
  • Actively participate in Data Center industry associations

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of technical sales/sales support experience within Data Center Market
  • Willing to travel 50% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
  • Data Center electrical/mechanical design
  • Experience with BESS and/or micro-grid energy solutions

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Translate complex metrics into meaningful, actionable insights
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint expertise, including building and maintaining complex models
  • Strong influence and collaboration skills across all organizational levels without direct authority
  • Effective multitasker with the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and leadership skills; self-starter with initiative and vision
  • Use of Salesforce as a CRM
