A Remote RN Insurance nurse is a registered nurse who works with insurance companies to review medical claims, assess patient care needs, and help determine the medical necessity of treatments—often from a home office. Their responsibilities may include case management, utilization review, and providing telephonic support to patients or healthcare providers. This role requires strong clinical experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to analyze medical records and insurance policies. Working remotely, these nurses help ensure patients receive appropriate care while also managing healthcare costs for insurance providers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote RN Insurance nurse?

To thrive as a Remote RN Insurance Nurse, you need an active RN license, a strong grasp of clinical practice, and experience in case management or utilization review. Familiarity with claims processing systems, telehealth platforms, and knowledge of medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) are typically required, along with certifications like CCM or URAC being advantageous. Exceptional communication, critical thinking, and time management skills help you collaborate with patients, providers, and insurance teams effectively. These competencies ensure accurate assessments, efficient case handling, and high-quality service in a remote, compliance-driven environment.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote RN Insurance professionals, and how can they be managed effectively?

Remote RN Insurance professionals often encounter challenges such as managing a high volume of case reviews, maintaining clear communication with both patients and insurance teams, and staying updated with changing insurance policies and regulations. Job description

About Dare Therapy

Dare Therapy is an expanding private practice dedicated to providing high-quality, integrated, and holistic mental health services. We emphasize client-centered care and evidence-based practices, specializing in trauma, neurodivergence, forensic psychology, and relational health.

As we scale our infrastructure across Massachusetts, we are seeking a seasoned, board-certified Lead PMHNP to step into a dual role combining advanced clinical practice with operational leadership. This position is designed for an experienced provider who values clinical autonomy, possesses a strong collaborative spirit, and is ready to shape the clinical training and supervision frameworks of a growing team.

Why Join Dare Therapy?

  • Flexible & Remote: Enjoy a 100% remote telehealth workflow with scheduling that respects your professional autonomy and work-life balance.
  • W2 Employment Stability: We provide the comprehensive clinical, administrative, and billing infrastructure you need so you can focus entirely on clinical care and leadership.
  • True Integrated Care: You will work hand-in-hand with our multidisciplinary team of therapists (LICSWs, LMHCs, LMFTs) to bridge the gap between psychotherapy and advanced medication management.
  • The Clinical Supervisor Premium: This role compensates you for your experience. You are not just a prescriber; you are a vital pillar of leadership, helping to oversee clinical quality and supervise emerging advanced practice nurses.

The Structural Advantages of Our W2 Model

Unlike traditional 1099 "fee-for-service" roles that pass operational and tax burdens onto the clinician, Dare Therapy protects our team through a robust W2 infrastructure:

  • Paid Administrative & Documentation Blocks: Your clinical expertise doesn't stop when the session ends. We build paid time into your schedule for documentation, charting, and inter-team consultations.
  • Immediate Tax Savings: As a W2 employer, we cover 7.65% of your payroll taxes (Social Security & Medicare). That is an immediate savings compared to 1099 roles, where you are responsible for the full 15.3% self-employment tax.
  • The "Double Shield" of Liability: We prioritize your professional safety. You are backed by two layers of protection: our comprehensive agency professional liability coverage alongside your personal policy, ensuring maximum security in a supervisory role.
  • Immediate Protection & Safety Net: From Day 1 on the clock, you are covered by Workers' Compensation and Unemployment Insurance, providing financial peace of mind.

About the Role & Career Path

We are looking for an experienced PMHNP (4+ years of post-master's experience) capable of managing complex, high-acuity psychiatric evaluations and medication management via telehealth, while serving as the primary Clinical Supervisor for junior clinicians and graduate-level nurse practitioner interns.

The Two-Phase Trajectory

  • Phase 1 – The Build-Up (Part-Time W2 No-Benefits): Launch with a highly competitive hourly rate paid for all clinical contact hours, clinical supervision sessions, and mandatory documentation blocks.
  • Phase 2 – The Leadership Transition (Full-Time W2 Salaried): Once you maintain a consistent caseload of 40 hours weekly (inclusive of direct clinical hours and supervisory responsibilities) or 25-billable hours over a 2-month period, you will transition to a guaranteed yearly salary. This protects you completely against patient no-shows and activates our full corporate benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Excellence: Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and advanced pharmacological management via telehealth using a trauma-informed, holistic approach.
  • Clinical Supervision: Provide mandatory clinical supervision, chart audits, and case consultations for Junior PMHNPs, ensuring adherence to Massachusetts practice standards and agency protocols.
  • Prescriptive Oversight: Act as the signatory provider for Collaborative Practice Agreements for advanced practice nurses navigating their initial supervised prescriptive practice periods.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Lead regular care-coordination meetings with Dare Therapy’s psychotherapists to optimize holistic patient outcomes.
  • Operational Leadership: Assist in drafting clinical standard operating procedures (SOPs), onboarding guidelines for new medical staff, and establishing rigorous peer-review frameworks.
  • Compliance: Ensure accurate, comprehensive, and timely clinical documentation in our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system within 24 hours of each encounter.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialty in Psychiatry (PMHNP).
  • Board Certification: Active ANCC board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
  • Licensure: Current, unrestricted Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Prescriptive Authority: Active Federal DEA registration and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR).
  • Experience Baseline: Minimum of 4+ years of post-master's clinical experience as a practicing PMHNP. Prior experience in clinical supervision, teaching, or management within an outpatient behavioral health infrastructure is highly preferred.
  • Residency: Must currently reside in the state of Massachusetts.
  • Clinical Scope: Proven experience treating a diverse spectrum of conditions (trauma, neurodivergence, mood disorders, anxiety) utilizing both psychopharmacology and supportive therapeutic modalities.

Benefits (Activated Upon Full-Time Salaried Status)

  • Competitive Annualized Base Salary
  • Comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Accrued Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Professional Development & Continuing Education Support
  • Fully Remote, Flexible Scheduling
