What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Risk Adjustment Coder, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Risk Adjustment Coder, you need a solid understanding of medical coding, anatomy, and healthcare regulations, typically backed by a coding certification such as CPC, CRC, or CCS. Familiarity with coding software, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and risk adjustment models like HCC is essential. Attention to detail, critical thinking, and strong written communication are crucial soft skills for interpreting clinical documentation and ensuring coding accuracy. These skills and qualifications are vital to accurately capture patient risk, ensure compliance, and optimize reimbursement for healthcare organizations.

What is remote risk adjustment coding?

Remote risk adjustment coding is the process of reviewing and assigning medical codes to patient diagnoses and procedures from a remote location, usually at home. The purpose is to ensure that healthcare organizations accurately report the health status of their patients, which affects reimbursement from health plans. Coders use specialized knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding and risk adjustment models, such as HCC (Hierarchical Condition Category) coding, to capture all relevant chronic conditions. This position requires attention to detail, compliance with regulations, and strong analytical skills.

Job description

Lavendo partners with startups and high‑growth companies to help them hire top‑tier sales, GTM, and technical talent. This role is with one of our clients; we’ll share full details about the company and interview process as we get to know you and confirm mutual fit.

About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing AI startup (Series A, $32M raised) building the go-to Voice AI platform for SMBs. Their AI agents handle inbound calls, book appointments, nurture leads, and drive revenue 24/7 — deploying in under 3 minutes, no code required, across 200+ integrations. 15,000+ agents deployed. 10,000+ businesses. Revenue doubled in the final two months of 2025. The founding team previously scaled an AI product to 50M+ users across 200 countries.

The Opportunity

The company scales through partners — agencies, resellers, integrators, and white-label operators who deploy AI agents to their end customers. The partner motion is already winning in restaurants, home services, and HVAC. This hire takes ownership of Dental and Emerging Verticals, with a mandate to build from the ground up and grow into a true portfolio owner.

This is a builder role. You're not inheriting a book of business — you're creating one. Two openings. Immediate start. Fully remote (US-based).

What You'll Do
  • Prospect and sign new partners across dental, healthcare, restaurants, home services, and adjacent verticals

  • Own the full partner lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, joint business planning, and health monitoring

  • Run QBRs, pipeline reviews, and churn recovery plans

  • Monitor partner agent deployment health; flag and resolve at-risk accounts proactively

  • Drive partner engagement via promotions, referral programs, and tiered incentive structures

  • Feed structured partner insights back to the product team; act as the internal voice of the partner

What You Bring
  • 3+ years of B2B account management, partner management, or channel sales (5+ strongly preferred)

  • Real hunting experience — you've signed new accounts or recruited new partners from scratch

  • Comfortable building in ambiguity; you don't wait for a playbook — you write it

  • Self-directed, high-output, executive-level communicator

  • US-based; open to quarterly travel including international offsites

Bonus: Background in dental-tech, restaurant SaaS, home services, or other SMB-facing verticals; prior experience at a Series A–C startup; familiarity with AI or Voice AI products; white-label or reseller partner experience

Key Success Drivers
  • Hunter-first: you love signing new partners as much as growing existing ones

  • Ownership mentality: you treat your vertical like a business you're building

  • High energy, competitive, and resilient — this team moves fast and wins together

  • Thrives when the ground is shifting; ambiguity is fuel, not friction

Compensation & Benefits
  • On-target earnings (OTE): $140K-220K (uncapped commission)

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Fully remote (US) with quarterly in-person offsites — past destinations include Barcelona

Interview Process
  1. HR Screen

  2. Hiring Manager interview — deep dive, real-time situational questions

  3. CEO interview

  4. Optional peer interview

  5. Reference & background check → Offer
