This position is full-time. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 11:30am - 8:00pm PST, Monday - Friday. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer 90 days of virtual, classroom and on the job training. The hours of the training will be based on schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Verifies patient information is accurate for each hospital encounter
  • Resolves verification of eligibility and benefit information issues
  • Utilizes work queues and other control reports to process all assigned encounters
  • Monitors third party payer coverage requirements advising the patient of any potential out of pocket expenses
  • Supports assigned pre-service functions including scheduling, pre-registration and financial counseling
  • Assists uninsured or underinsured patients to establish a payer source or to make payment arrangements
  • Provides cost estimates to patients who identify as "self pay" and wish to schedule services at a JMH location
  • Ensures safekeeping of credit card information and appropriately documents transaction in patient's encounter
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and demonstrates complete discretion when discussing patient information
  • Maintains current knowledge of computer registration, updating patient data as needed
  • Meets productivity standards, quality review expectations, unit specific goals and reporting requirements as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED 

  • 2 years of experience in an admitting, registration, or hospital business office-oriented role

  • 2 years of experience working in healthcare, with insurance and third-party payers

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)

  • Ability to work full-time between 11:30am - 8:00pm PST including the flexibility to work occasional overtime given the business need

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding

  • EPIC proficiencies for this position must be passed within 90 days of start date

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy

  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)

  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
