The candidate will be responsible for design and consulting for low voltage system projects including new installations, renovations, and system upgrades. Low voltage systems include IT, Communications, Security, Audio-Visual, and Structured Cabling. Project types will vary from design of stand-alone low voltage systems to large multi-system renovation projects. Candidate is expected to demonstrate proficiency with the development and preparation of construction drawings and specifications as well as have experience in construction administration for low voltage systems. Experience in electrical power systems is considered a plus.

Location:

This position is remote, but candidates must be located in Southern California to be considered.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute low voltage system design from project inception to completion.
  • Develop and evaluate low voltage system concepts and options to determine best design and engineering solution for each project based upon project scope.
  • Responsible for design of the low voltage systems including preparation of all engineering tasks including load calculations, equipment selections, systems layouts, and schedules.
  • Perform systems analysis and prepare reports and studies as well as cost estimates.
  • Develop detailed design drawings and CSI specifications for bidding and construction.
  • Actively interface and coordinate with external clients, architects, consultants, and construction partners.
  • Perform construction administration services.
  • Assist team in achieving project budget and management of resources.
  • Provide mentorship for other engineers and designers within the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates in Applied Science in Engineering Technology or similar education/experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in design and consulting for low voltage and/or electrical systems.
  • Candidate with RCDD certification or similar industry certification is preferred.
  • Candidates with a PE license or ability to obtain a PE license will be considered a plus.
  • Experience in architectural and engineering work.
  • Working experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office Products.
  • Ability to self-manage throughout the project and work as part of a team.
  • Proven communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Active participation in industry organizations.
