Senior IT Analyst
Overview
Sentara Health is seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Senior IT Analyst to support and enhance critical Health Plan and Case Management systems. This role serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders, Case Management leadership, and technical teams to design, develop, and optimize data solutions that improve operational efficiency and member outcomes.
The Senior IT Analyst will leverage expertise in SQL development, ETL processes, reporting, and application support to deliver scalable business solutions. Responsibilities include analyzing business requirements, creating and maintaining complex SQL code and SSIS packages, supporting application enhancements, automating processes, and ensuring data integrity across systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong Health Plan and Case Management knowledge, experience working with JIVA or similar care management platforms, and the ability to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL-based solutions to support business operations and reporting needs.
  • Design and support ETL processes and SSIS package development for data integration initiatives.
  • Analyze business and clinical requirements and recommend technology solutions to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Collaborate closely with Case Management leadership and business stakeholders to support workflows, case assignment processes, and operational improvements.
  • Support software application enhancements, upgrades, testing, and implementation activities.
  • Create and execute test plans, document test results, and ensure quality delivery of system changes.
  • Troubleshoot application and data-related issues and participate in incident, problem, and change management activities.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements using SQL, Python, and related technologies.
  • Coordinate project activities related to system enhancements and application releases.
  • Provide production support and serve as a technical resource for end users and cross-functional teams.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, Business Analytics, or a related field (Preferred)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a degree may be accepted in lieu of advanced education requirements
  • 7+ years of relevant experience without a degree
Certification/Licensure
  • No specific certification or licensure requirements
Experience
  • Five (5) years of Health Plan IT experience required.
  • Extensive experience developing and optimizing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database solutions.
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining ETL processes and SSIS packages.
  • Strong understanding of Case Management, Care Management, and Health Plan operations.
  • Experience partnering with business leaders to gather requirements, define solutions, and support operational initiatives.
  • Experience supporting application enhancements, automation projects, system upgrades, and production support activities.
  • Knowledge of JIVA Care Management platform strongly preferred.
  • Python programming experience for automation and process improvement strongly preferred.
  • Experience with software testing, change management, incident management, and production support.
