Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with law enforcement during critical mental health response situations, offering on-site counseling and support.
  • Provide training to police personnel on effective techniques for de-escalating mental health crises to minimize incidents requiring force.
  • Conduct field psychiatric evaluations, assisting police officers in assessing the need for involuntary detainment under the Welfare and Institutions Code.
  • Deliver immediate, short-term crisis counseling for individuals in distress, ensuring they receive appropriate care and support.
  • Document patient interactions meticulously, safeguarding confidential information in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Facilitate communication between law enforcement, mental health crisis units, and medical staff to ensure cohesive patient care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The ideal candidate will support a broad spectrum of patients, including arrestees facing mental health challenges and community members experiencing crises. Qualifications
  • A bachelorโ€™s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field is required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is preferred.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
