THE ROLE
Be part of a team of quantitative researchers, developers and portfolio managers managing a set of quant/fundamental blend equity strategies. Design, develop and maintain systems that support the research and portfolio management processes. Liaise with MFS' IT department and other parts of the firm to facilitate their support of the business as well.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Enhance the quantitative investment process by designing, developing and maintaining tools used in the portfolio construction process and quantitative research process.
  • Generate ideas for enhancements to systems and the investment process.
  • Contribute to the development of robust technology and applications through a development process that incorporates appropriate documentation, testing, and checks and balances.
  • Interact with other technology teams throughout the organization and represent the quantitative team on broader technology initiatives (e.g., audits, disaster recovery).
  • Work closely with a team of experienced quantitative analysts, developers and portfolio managers to develop a business with slightly over $25bn AUM as of 12/31/2025.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Two-to-four years of relevant industry experience as a developer.
  • Ability to design robust, scalable, object-oriented solutions to complex problems.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and issues in existing codebase.
  • Be able to manage and optimize large time-series databases and ensure the data quality, integrity and availability across systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, inclusive of the ability to listen and incorporate feedback into one's work.
  • Proficiency in SQL, C# and Python.
  • Proficiency in Java and Matlab.
  • Familiarity with software commonly used in the industry such as Factset and Axioma.
  • Not a hybrid role, current office convention is Monday-Thursday in office and remote on Fridays.
Base Salary: $ 115,000
This position is eligible for competitive incentive bonus.
At MFS, we believe in fair and transparent compensation. For that reason, we're including the salary range for this position. This range reflects our good-faith expectation for what we'll pay depending on the candidate's experience, training and education. In addition to the salary, we also offer significant and competitive incentive compensation based on both individual and company performance. Other components of our Total Rewards Package include:
