Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced a Tax Supervisor who enjoys solving complex tax matters, advising business owners, and building long-term client relationships. This position offers significantly more involvement in planning and consulting than a traditional compliance-focused public accounting role. This role offers a fully remote or hybrid flexibility work environment.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical tax knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a genuine interest in helping closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals navigate strategic tax decisions throughout the year.

Unlike firms centered primarily around return production, this team works alongside clients year-round, providing planning, guidance, and proactive tax solutions. Tax returns are viewed as the final deliverable of an ongoing advisory relationship rather than the primary service.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Fully remote work environment
  • Established and growing CPA advisory firm
  • Strong emphasis on client consulting and tax strategy
  • No traditional billable-hour culture
  • Clear advancement path into leadership and review responsibilities
  • Collaborative team structure with direct exposure to partners and senior leadership
  • Growing client base consisting of business owners, investors, and real estate professionals
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review complex individual and business tax returns
  • Advise clients on tax-saving opportunities and planning strategies
  • Conduct tax projections and year-round planning engagements
  • Support clients with federal and state tax matters
  • Assist with notice resolution and client correspondence
  • Review work prepared by junior team members
  • Research changing tax regulations and communicate impacts to clients
  • Partner with leadership on complex tax engagements and special projects
  • Utilize emerging technology and AI tools to improve efficiency and client service
Required Qualifications
  • Active CPA, EA, or equivalent professional tax credential
  • 3+ years of public accounting tax experience
  • Strong background with individual and business entity taxation
  • Experience with S-Corporations, Partnerships, and closely held businesses
  • Ability to communicate tax concepts clearly to clients
  • Experience handling complex returns and tax planning engagements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
  • Multi-state tax experience
  • Real estate taxation expertise
  • Tax advisory and consulting experience
  • Review experience within a public accounting environment
  • Experience with UltraTax, SurePrep, or comparable tax software
  • Prior leadership or mentoring experience

The successful candidate is someone who naturally enjoys tackling challenging tax situations, researching solutions, and serving as a trusted advisor to clients. They are proactive, intellectually curious, and comfortable balancing technical work with relationship management.

This role is especially attractive for professionals seeking greater involvement in planning, strategy, and client consultation while continuing to develop their technical expertise.
