The City of Surrey ND is now accepting applicaitons for a Public Works Employee with duties to include water, sewer, and street maintenance. Must be able to obtain a minimum Class B driverโ€™s license with air brakes, be on call, and able to pass appropriate certifications. Equipment operating experience preferred.

Position:

NATURE OF WORK

This is professional position that works on public works programs in the areas of public building maintenance, street and sidewalk construction and maintenance, public parking, traffic control, solid waste disposal and recycling, vehicle and equipment maintenance, and fresh/wastewater collection and treatment. This includes groundskeeping duties throughout the city. When it snows, Public Works provides us with plowed road, when a watermain breaks, they are required to respond. They fix potholes, crack seal, mow lawns, and take care of lift stations. Our City would not run smoothly wihout Public Works!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK (May not include all duties to be performed.)

  • Maintains records and prepares reports on a variety of subjects.
  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with community groups, members of the community, and contractors.
  • Assists with maintenance and construction of water and sewer systems, streets, and buildings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned in a timely fashion.
  • Possession of a valid North Dakota driverโ€™s license.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a ND Water and Wastewater Certifications within a timely manner.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain pesticide and herbicide certification.

This position is open until filled, 40hrs per week, and include a full benefit package: Health, dental, vision, NDPERS retirement, life insurance, vacation, sick, and holiday pay. Wage DOE.
