Opportunity Summary
In this remote role, the Assistant Controller supports the Controller in managing the Strategic Business Unit's (SBU's) accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial data, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement.
Primary Duties
  • Financial Reporting & Close Process
    • Support and help drive the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion
    • Ensure accuracy of the general ledger, account reconciliations, and financial data integrity
    • Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and internal management reports
    • Support and coordinate external audits, including preparation of audit deliverables
    • Contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and shorten the close cycle
  • Accounting Operations
    • Support day-to-day accounting functions
    • Ensure proper internal controls are maintained and followed
    • Analyze variances between actuals and forecasts
    • Provide financial insights to support decision-making
  • Team Leadership
    • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
    • Build and maintain a high-performing finance organization
  • Systems & Process Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting processes

Working Relationships
The position reports to Controller and interacts with various accounting and operations teams within the company.
Compensation
The initial starting annual compensation will range from $137,500 to $158,100 based on experience and qualifications.
Work Schedule
This remote position follows a typical schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Flexibility to work extended hours may be needed during high-demand periods or key projects. Occasional travel may be required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include the ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer for prolonged screen time, as well as the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Fitness for Duty
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a pre-employment drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
Job Qualifications:
Education, Experience and Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required
  • Advanced-level accounting experience in a public accounting firm or industry environment
  • Experience in industrial services, construction and energy sectors (e.g., project-based accounting) under multi-entity environments is a plus
  • CPA is strongly preferred

Specific Skills and Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., MS Dynamics D365 MSFT) is a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills and work cross-functionally with non-finance teams
  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
