The Associate Program Design Manager supports the development of complex programs from initial concept through engineering completion and handoff to execution. Reporting to the Program Design Manager, this role assists with coordinating program activities, facilitating communication among stakeholders, supporting design development efforts, and helping ensure program requirements, schedules, risks, and decisions are effectively documented and managed.
This position serves as a key support role between engineering, manufacturing, procurement, logistics, construction, and project delivery teams while developing the skills necessary to lead increasingly complex programs. The Associate Program Design Manager supports client interactions, design reviews, coordination meetings, and planning workshops while maintaining program documentation, tracking open items, and helping drive follow-up actions to completion.
Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, technical curiosity, communication ability, and a willingness to learn the design, engineering, manufacturing, and construction processes that support successful program execution. The Associate Program Design Manager is expected to progressively increase responsibility while supporting the Program Design Manager in turning customer requirements into solutions that can be engineered, manufactured, delivered, and successfully executed. Ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing, construction, or project delivery teams as well as familiarity with ETO (Engineered-to-Order) product design, Design-Build, Mission Critical, or integrated project delivery models. Will have experience participating in project meetings, design reviews, coordination activities, or cross-functional project teams and a proven ability to organize information, track action items, coordinate stakeholders, and support timely project decisions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience: 8+ years of experience in engineering, preconstruction, manufacturing, construction, project management, or related technical fields.

Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supports cross-functional teams from program/project pursuit through design completion and transition to execution.
  • Reports to and supports the Program Design Manager in coordinating design-phase stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and internal teams, while helping maintain design schedules, deliverables, and timely decisions to support program objectives.
  • Assists with the development of design solutions from concept through detailed engineering documentation.
  • Supports standardization and product evolution across programs by documenting lessons learned, reusable design strategies, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinates design activities across engineering, BIM, manufacturing, and operations teams under the direction of the Program Design Manager.
  • Partners with estimating, procurement, and engineering teams to gather information related to cost impacts, design alternatives, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Assists with team budget tracking, estimate support, and cost-impact documentation.
  • Tracks design progress, design changes, open items, action items, and risks throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Maintains Program Requirements Documentation that serves as the single Source-of-Truth (SoT) consolidating program/product design requirements, assumptions, constraints, decisions, and open items.
  • Supports alignment between design intent, manufacturing capabilities, and constructability.
  • Supports reviews for design compliance with codes, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Assists with the transition from design into program execution by organizing documentation, coordinating handoff activities, and communicating unresolved items to the Program Design Manager.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
