Associate Production Artist (IVP)
Work Location:
Remote - USA

To advance the purpose of InterVarsity Press (IVP), this position provide graphic production expertise and administrative support to the creative director, graphic designer, and internal stakeholders to effectively introduce titles into the marketplace and positively represent the IVP brand.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Personal:
Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world.
Accomplish production and prepress work by:
  • Preparing Marketing asset designs for digital channels (Amazon, social media, websites)

  • Designing and preparing additional author support assets as assigned (PowerPoint templates, author videos, etc.)

  • Preparing front covers as assigned and distributed to archives and stakeholders.

  • Coordinating with external vendors regarding the completion and distribution of front covers.

  • Shepherding back covers and audiobook covers as assigned through the design, proofing, and production process.

  • Preparing backlist title cover updates for reprints.

  • Delivering print ready production files to print vendors.

  • Signing off on production proofs.

  • Distributing digital author photos to archives and stakeholders.

  • Implementing and upholding the visual identity and brand of IVP.

  • Supporting Bynder archive and working with the IVP Production Artist who oversees the archive.

Coordinate IVP art licensing by:
  • Purchasing rights-managed images as necessary.

  • Submitting invoices to accounting.

  • Communicating and maintaining art databases.

Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by:
  • Providing support to the Designers.

  • Working to ensure order and organization of systems, equipment, and Microsoft Teams workspaces.

  • Supporting digital asset management, creating, and maintaining electronic archives of graphic files including stock photography, icons, logos, author photos, book covers, and other assets.

  • Completing assigned projects within the allocated time.

  • Performing team administrative duties to support the work of the team.

  • Completing final output for assigned projects in necessary format (print or digital).

Communicate with project sponsors and other contacts by:
  • Building relationships with print vendors and internal stakeholders

  • Responding to e-mail inquiries, calendar invites and instant messaging

  • Working in partnership with other teams, including graphic designers, on specified projects

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Affirmation of InterVarsity's Statement of Faith

  • Associate Degree in Art or Design preferred

  • Portfolio of recent work

  • Tech-savvy and quick learner

  • Competent in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign and Photoshop

  • Experience with HTML is a plus

  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and ClickUp a plus

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage your workload and work independently

  • Strong organization and time management skills

  • Ability to work and communicate well in remote and hybrid environment using cloud-based project management software

  • Ability to work well in a deadline-driven environment

  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a diverse team environment

  • Prudence with confidential information

  • Flexibility to attend the Urbana Student Missions Conference every six years, Dec. 26-Jan.1, and National Staff Conference every three years (the year after Urbana), approximately Jan. 2- 7

LEVELS IN JOB FAMILY (POSTING WILL STATE THE RELEVANT LEVEL AT THE BEGINNING OF THE POSTING)
Associate Production Artist, Level 4, non-exempt
The Associate Production Artist is responsible for all the duties listed above and is preferred to have at least 1 year of experience working with print files.
Production Artist I, Level 5, exempt
The Production Artist I is responsible for all the duties listed above and may also be involved in designing, leading team meetings, project brainstorming, and feedback sessions when applicable. A Production Artist I is preferred to have at least 3 years of prior design or production experience.
Production Artist II, Level 6, exempt
The Production Artist II is responsible for all the duties listed above and may also be involved in designing, leading team meetings, project brainstorming, and feedback sessions when applicable. A Production Artist II is required to have at least 5 years of design or production experience.
Senior Production Artist, Level 7, exempt
The Senior Production Artist, in addition to the qualifications listed above, must have at least 8 years of design and/or production experience, a demonstrated ability to train and mentor team members, and must demonstrate expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, text and page layout, photo manipulation, editing, and processing. Beyond the major responsibilities above, the Senior Production Artist will assist the Managing Editor in leading, coaching, and training other individuals within and outside the department in a variety of areas as well as lead projects and processes as assigned.
