A Remote Process Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing manufacturing or business processes while working remotely. They use data analysis, simulations, and process improvement techniques to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality. This role often involves collaborating with cross-functional teams through virtual communication tools. Industries such as manufacturing, energy, and technology frequently hire remote process engineers to streamline operations. Strong problem-solving, technical expertise, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

What does a remote process engineer do?

A typical day for a Remote Process Engineer involves analyzing process data, developing optimization strategies, creating technical documentation, and conducting virtual meetings with cross-functional teams such as operations, quality assurance, and project management. Much of the communication is carried out via video conferencing, collaborative project platforms, and email, making it important to be proactive and clear in updates. While working offsite, you'll still be expected to participate in team meetings, report progress, and seek input from on-site staff when needed. • Visit customer facilities with our local engineer to a) assist customers in scoping potential projects or b) gather site information to benefit project progression.
  • Create, develop, and refine process piping designs for various systems.
  • Create detailed drawings, piping isometrics, and specifications to guide construction and installation activities.
  • Conduct field visits to measure and record specifications of existing piping systems and equipment, including laser scanning (using the company Leica RTC 360).
  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards.
  • Provide positive working relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Generate P&IDs and process flow diagrams (PFDs).
  • 3D modeling of process equipment, instrumentation, and piping.
  • Direct involvement with customers for design reviews (typically in Navisworks).
  • Work with engineering team to help model processes with the end deliverable being a complete mechanical bid package for construction.

Compensation and Benefits
Rate: $35-$45/hr base pay
