About the Roleย 

The Cybersecurity Officer is responsible for protecting the organization's information systems, applications, and data from unauthorized access, disclosure, disruption, modification, or destruction. This role supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization's cybersecurity program by collaborating with business stakeholders, Information Technology, Legal, Risk, Privacy, Compliance, and other cross-functional teams. The Cybersecurity Officer provides security expertise for projects, vendor engagements, and enterprise initiatives while promoting cybersecurity best practices and ensuring alignment with organizational security frameworks.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise cybersecurity programs and controls.

Collaborates with business stakeholders, Information Technology, and product teams to integrate cybersecurity requirements into business processes and technical solutions.

Develops and maintains an understanding of organizational business functions, systems, data, and customer needs to support cybersecurity objectives.

Promotes adoption of the organization's Cybersecurity Framework and security best practices.

Provides cybersecurity consultation and guidance for projects, system implementations, and third-party vendor engagements.

Reviews and recommends technical security controls to protect enterprise systems and information.

Coordinates with Legal, Risk Management, Privacy, Compliance, and IT teams to ensure regulatory and organizational compliance.

Assists in identifying, assessing, and mitigating cybersecurity risks across the organization.

Supports the development and implementation of strategic and tactical cybersecurity initiatives.

Evaluates existing security processes and recommends improvements to strengthen organizational security.

Participates in cybersecurity assessments, audits, and compliance activities.

Maintains current knowledge of cybersecurity threats, technologies, standards, and industry best practices.

Works collaboratively across departments to support business objectives while maintaining strong security controls.

Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field required. (An additional four (4) years of directly related experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.)

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or a related technology field.

Strong technical knowledge of Azure Cloud systems and Entra Identify management.

Strong working knowledge of EHRs, Athena preferred.

Experience working within a patient facing care delivery setting with providers, e.g. a hospital or clinic.

Professional certifications such as CISSP, CRISC, CISA, or CISM preferred.

Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards, including ISO 27001 and the HIPAA Security Rule, preferred.

Experience with cybersecurity governance, risk management, process improvement, and security architecture preferred.
