Job description

Job Summary:
Omega Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Technical Specialist for a 12-month engagement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to enhance and maintain the HiCAMS application. The role involves analyzing, designing, coding, and testing enhancements to a mission-critical application used for tracking construction projects.
Responsibilities:
• Enhance and maintain the HiCAMS application.
• Analyze/design/code/test data windows to replace approximately 200 sample test result spreadsheet formats.
• Analyze/design/coding/testing bug fixes and other functional enhancements to the system and its interfaces.
• Deliver support and design for industry specific applications that require integration with statewide systems or applications.
• Identify improvements to project standards to achieve high quality services/products.
• Interact with executive level business users or technical experts.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Experience as a PowerBuilder developer using PB10 or more recent versions.
• Strong SQL skills (HiCAMS uses a Sybase database but SQL skills in any database platform are acceptable)
• Strong Microsoft Suite experience, particularly Excel
• Experience working in a remote software development environment
• Strong analytical, conceptual, and technical skills
• Positive interpersonal skills coupled with an independent, self-motivated work ethic
• Ability to work with a custom base-class
• Proven written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain business processes to IT users and IT applications to business users
Preferred:
• Previous development experience with NCDOT's HiCAMS application
• Development experience in C#
• Development experience in Java
• Development experience in C+
• Experience coding stored procedures and triggers (any database)
• Experience developing .net applications and API's in a Visual Studio environment
• Data conversion experience
