About This is a remote role from anywhere in the US or Canada. NEOGOV is a proud AI-Enabled SaaS leader in the Public Sector & Public Safety space with a mission to serve the people who serve the people. Our clients use our software to streamline everyday processes NEOGOV is a leading AI-enabled SaaS provider serving the public sector and public safety organizations nationwide.

For more than 25 years, we've helped agencies streamline critical workforce and operational processes through an integrated, intelligent platform. This posting is for an existing vacancy. The Director of Engineering, Platform, role will define engineering roadmaps for the Platform teams which include Analytics & Reporting, Unified Data engine, and Internal & External APIs. Reporting to AVP of Engineering, the Director will build and mentor a high-performing team and drive important Platform initiatives for 2026 and beyond.

What You Will do Define and execute the platform engineering roadmap - shared services, integration frameworks, and data models that power the entire 22-product suite. Implement clear standards for development, testing, and security while championing automation and DevOps best practices. Use measurable metrics to track and improve engineering velocity, system reliability, and quality - and act on them. Drive continuous reduction of technical debt without sacrificing innovation velocity.

Build, mentor, and scale AI-first engineering teams across distributed environments, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning. Collaborate closely with Product and Operations to ensure technology investments directly support customer outcomes and business goals. Lead the transition to cloud-native, scalable, and modular systems - including container-native CI/CD, GitOps workflows, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CDK).

Define and execute the Internal Developer Platform strategy - paved roads, golden paths, and self-service infrastructure that reduce per-team engineering toil and accelerate delivery across all product teams. Who You Are You excel at the intersection of technology and business, with a knack for turning complex goals into actionable plans. A strong communicator, with an aptitude for translating technical challenges for non-technical stakeholders and aligning priorities across different departments.

You are dedicated to building trust and technical excellence within your teams, focusing on scaling talent in a distributed environment. You are motivated by the challenge of scaling a complex SaaS platform that provides vital services to millions of public sector employees. What You Have 10+ years of software engineering experience, including + years in Director positions.

Proven experience leading teams in a Microsoft centered ecosystem (.NET, C#, SQL Server) Proficiency in Looker (or similar BI tools) and integration platforms like Workato.
